From that Stuff article...
Practice makes perfect
Nearly every morning as a high school student, Ravindra would head to the nets in Wellington with his father Ravi. When he wasn’t training with his father, Ravindra was in the gym working on gaining strength and speed, and improving his power game in the nets.
"I have a hit with my dad in the mornings," Ravindra told Stuff in a 2018 interview. "He's been a great help ever since I started playing cricket.
god i am a shit dad

Read somewhere a year or so back that Devon and Rachin used spend a lot of time practicing together around Wellington cricket, so that may have been a big plus when they got to bat together too.
If you read the comments from cricinfo in his motm speech, he suggests having Dev there helped a lot.
I don’t mind what calms him, if playing in India and with Dev is the magic ingredient then he is going to make himself hard to drop!

I watched Ravindra's first 60 odd runs and shit he looked classy. There were some terrific shots. In-between he looked composed and untroubled. He didn't look far behind Conway. Fingers crossed there is more to come from him because NZ Cricket needs it.

Is Baz the coach of the ODI team?
no, its Matthew Mott. They've separated the coaches for a while, i think its a good idea. I think the biggest problem with this England team is a. form b. the cattle available and c. a slight lack of genuine belief in the plan.
I think a. means that execution isn't good enough and c is partly as a result of the difference between Morgan and Butler. Butler is just too nice, and not demonstratively committed to 400 or bust as Morgan was, therefore the players don't have the clarity of the 2019 team, or indeed of the current test team. As for b. watching yesterday i was struck by the lack of out and out suicidal attack that Roy delivers naturally.
Now its the first game, but Jesus were New Zealand a joy to watch, that batting innings was probably the best I've ever seen, barely a false shot and as far as i can remember, entirely chanceless. The bowling was very good too.

Rachin is still 23, so plenty of time ahead.
Stuff article talks about how his first name is a portmanteau of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. Probably a good sign that your Dad will happily take you to the nets when asked...
If he was West Indian I guess Briviv would be a good name too

You’re right but it also includes Tom Blundell. Apparently the three of them get up early and go running together before they all hit the nets. Really helping each refine each other’s weaknesses. Obviously paying off.

This is not rocket science, but this is what I expect from professional sportspeople.
I cannot understand why pro rugby players aren't practicing kicking off either foot. Half an hour a day, for 10 months a year and you would have to get good at it. And yet, skill levels at the top level seem to have dropped not improved.

I love Conway. Seriously classy player. I just wish we’d got him earlier cos he’s no spring chicken.
Then again, sometimes throwing young fellas into international cricket can fuck with their confidence etc.
