Well that went all right.
Next week's game should be enjoyable for all. Possibly no Furlong, Ryan, Hansen or Lowe for Ireland - squad depth about to be tested.
…be enjoyable for all supporters of the side that wins.
Just filling in the missing words there for you derm.
Irish fans will be utterly disconsolate should NZ win as this is a great Irish side and Ireland will still not have broken their quarterfinal hoodoo. The word choker will no doubt surface.
NZ fans expect somewhat to lose so I’m not sure we will be utterly disconsolate but we will hardly be dancing in the streets.
Anyone else on the other hand will no doubt have thoroughly enjoyed the match regardless of the result!

I suspect "would" is needed here, Foster is the high priest of premature expectations. -
@Billy-Tell French presently are the biggest chokers...0/3 finals.
Ireland, ranked #1 prior to 2019, ranked #1 this year...one or both of them will wear that tag.

I don’t think the French choked in their finals. 87 beaten by better team. 99 beaten by better team. 11 rank outsiders and almost won.
The 2007 semi-final on the other hand…

Good for you, someone needs to stand in for Bull Dusta.

Just might have been a decent amount of sarcasm in my post…I do think we have a chance but I’m in no way mega confident.

Ireland hit their peak in 2018. It was all downhill after that. They got to #1 ranking just before the world cup started but that was from a bizarre set of circumstances. Wales also got to #1 around that time.
Ireland were #1 for a few days in 2019 vs a year in 2023.

It's been a very enjoyable tournament so far - one of my favourite matches was last night's Portugal victory over Fiji - great heart and commitment - hopefully they get more opportunities in the coming years.
The game against New Zealand will be enjoyable with both teams and sets of fans openly/quietly hoping for a victory. Some great match-ups between players and although both teams have possible injuries to content with it should still be an exciting contest.

Sexton is such a fluffybunny
This is a bit unfair. I think he's a pretty good rugby player and leads his team very well.

OK let me revise that: I think he's a fluffybunny who happens to be a pretty good rugby player.

Please forgive NTA, the A stands for Australian. That's a lot to carry.

Totally awesome player. He whines like a bitch because it works. Rugby has a major part of playing the ref, and Ireland do it best. Ten years ago the amount of whining to the ref that we see today wouldn't be stood for. But now it is, and Ireland are the best at it. We used to be best at playing the ref, but now we are so holier than thou that we don't do it. On the field, of the field, you've got to play the ref. Fucking dumb shit bullshit in the pro era that we don't. The keohane article saying Fr, Ire, SA play smart rugby is entirely correct. We try to play beautiful rugby, but we are not great at it and it gives so many advantages to the opposition even when we do it well. So bravo Ireland, deserved number 1.
And if you don't win this RWC it will be the biggest choke ever, along with England women last year

TBH I don't think that's why you're not as dominant as you were.
- Maintaining that level of dominance is statistically close to impossible
- Your development systems aren't producing quite the level of player you had.
Would I be sad if NZ beat Ireland? Fuck no.

I'm certainly not saying it's the only reason the abs are poor. Fosters tactics is the main one. But cane barely talks to the ref, good teams are in their ear all game. It sucks, but it's a simple fact. Fucking rassie won the lions series when not even on the Pitch!

I'm sure the France and South Africa teams might think the same given their recent dominance and performances.
For Ireland, it would be not winning a quarterfinal again despite having a pretty good team this time round. But then again, they said that in 2007 too. We'll just have to wait and see I suppose.
Not sure what the reference to England women means.
