@The-Irishman It’s ok to think a game was better than it was because you were preconditioned to do so. Take your own enjoyment from it.

I’d take any game that wasn’t decided by 4 missed kicks as an improvement. So take your pick

I think the preconditioning is on your side mate.

Miss me with your false dichotomy.

Ireland also failed to convert a fair few breaks deep into the boks 22. And not because they were sloppy. Pressure forces good players to make mistakes.

Rugby is glorious because it gives us NZ v Oz 2000 in Sydney but also because it gives us SA v France in Durban 95.

@Smuts You’re right about the pressure, Boks couldn’t handle it tonight. What you’d expect from an inexperienced kicker and replacement level hooker in a situation they’re not built for.

I enjoy games when the result isn’t determined by one team choking, just a good contest all round.

Great game, well done Ireland. SA missed Marx a lot. Where to now? Libbok played well but obviously kicking let him down. Will Pollard come in now? Not sure it’s the right move though.
Ireland celebrating like they won the World Cup! Really looking forward to them playing the ABs. That will be fun to watch as a nuetral.

I think there is plenty to take from that for the ABs, in particular discipline and when you kick, you chase, even if the kick isn't accurate a good chase still adds pressure.

Those 2 things would help us immeasurably.

    @stodders
More likely against us the way that has turned out lately.
The Ref will be a factor as well.

edit. it will be cringe worthy if we lose, the NH media will be as smug as.

@Chris yeah you hope whoever it is has no influence on the game, BOK was excellent today, no controversy, not actually being talked about.

Yep, which is a nice change from some other referring performances in this WC.

Mate depends how you saw and watch games, I love the game and look at positives whenever I watch, and one team may appear to choke etc, but sometimes the other team is doing the choking of them.

Considering we have been right up there for years with most penalties, and Ireland the least, I am not holding much hope for improved discipline. We give 3 to 5 times more away than they do

Was a strange match to watch for me.

I can’t recall a time that I switched teams I least disliked throughout an 80 minutes.

At one point I was saying how resilient the Irish defence was and then when I see them run NFL like attacking plays, my reaction to them changed to, I hope they get roasted.

Then when the Boks were having all kinds of forward dominance both at the breakdown and at set piece, it was great to watch. But when I saw them squander front foot ball after front foot ball, my reaction was they don’t deserve to win this or any match.
