Is that the best pool match of all time?

Off the top of my head I can’t think of a better one for quality of opponents

World number 1 Vs no 2. Yeah never happened before and hopefully won't happen again

Apart from that other time in 2019.

@akan004 may as we’ll go home now then, as SA will likely now be on the other side of the draw from NZ unless Scotland pull off a shock

Not out of the question. Ireland will be pretty fucked after that game.

Ireland have a week off,The Scotland game is not until 8th Oct, They have plenty of time to recover.

@BerniesCorner Coaching is clearly part of it. Ireland are an exceptionally well-drilled team, cohesive, disciplined, strategically smart and all on the same page. All the things the ABs aren’t, in other words.

@Chris Ireland’s challenge will be how they build again from here. They built up to this game against SA. They’ve scaled this peak. Naturally, most teams will drop after accomplishing that goal.

Ireland using clever tactics at the breakdown, regularly putting a guy in front of their jackler on defending rucks, rarely get penalised for it. Boks unlucky. Ireland defended extremely well in their half but were not great with everything else from what I saw (2nd half)

    3 observations:

    1. Better for us as I think we have a better chance vs Ireland than SA. Ireland strong favourites tho.
    2. Ireland better all around, but SA blew so many points and only lost by 5. In a rematch (likely final?) SA to win.
    3. Line between rugby and NFL smaller than ever.

What a novel idea having winger with a really big boot that can carve off huge chunks of territory..?

Yeah. If only Foster had the smarts to try Jordie on the wing, eh?

@Tordah yes they certainly push alot of things, quite obviously too, but do so cohesively and consistently that they rarely get pinged

if they can win from here it will be a great achievement given the amount of quality opponents they will have played

The Kiwi Irish are stars in green.
    Why have we struggled?

    Because Ireland thought strategically.

We've conned ourselves into thinking we always have the best players and best systems and would always be ahead of the curve.

Because they’ve consistently played together over a long period. Our team chops and changes every two seconds.

No country has done professionalism better than Ireland. They’ve gone from a joke of a team in the 1990s to seriously good. Don’t think it’s a flash in the pan either they have well structured development pathways.

No other sport comes close to rugby when it's played at this level. What a test.

11 of the starters are from Leinster, including 6 of the pack. That type of familiarity will always help.
