RWC Week 2: Springboks v Romania

@The-Irishman just my opinion. Until Tier 2 teams play against each other in the World Cup, we won’t know. Would be good to have a plate competition to allow them more games.
-
@The-Irishman I will say, Chile look a lot better on attack. Not sure where Namibia sit these days. Will know more after they play Uruguay.

Maybe there should be an earlier Tier 2 comp, and the winner chosen from the "Minnow A Minnow" final (forgive the butchered Spanish).

Yep. These one way contests dont do rugby any favors. People will be switching off.

@nostrildamus there is something like that (Final Qualification Tournament) to settle the final qualifying spots. Tonga and Tonga qualified in front of USA, Hing Kong and Kenya

Yes but perhaps there should be more in the FQT and less in this one?

How does this match prepare SA for Ireland?

Easy for us to sit on couches. Thank you Romania for all the heart. I really hope that they leave the competition with countries like Romania and Uruguay and Chile and Portugal . etc. I spent more than a few Saturdays with my face buried in the dirt collapsed scrum after collapsed scrum and all we had was heart… It isn’t always about the results... Just the amount of heart… The game taught me a lot about life and all of us have seen a lot of heart from second tier teams in only a couple rounds Long may it continue—

Risky stuff
Bongi Mbonambi, who started and was captain against Romania, is the only specialist No. 2 in the squad. Fourie, once a hooker in the early days of his career, now must back up Mbonambi for the rest of the tournament after Nienaber called up No 10 Handre Pollard and not a hooker as a replacement for Marx straight after the Romania game.
Another flanker, Marco van Staden, has also been practising at hooker and threw into the South Africa lineout for the last 10 minutes.
But shows how important the breakdown is versus scrum and lineout

Interesting seeing the differing mind set of fans (via Social Media at least)
Bok fans praising the win over Romania, congratulating the team: NZ beat Namibia, fans saying it was only Namibia, we were shit, we didnt win by enough.

Bok passing grade was to end Romania game with a better points difference than Ireland v Romania.
Scratch team did that apparently without serious injuries. So we’re satisfied.
