Chiefs 2024
-
As neither the Chiefs or Blues seemed bothered to post the score I had a look at the Whangamata RFC FB page.
Chiefs Dev 27 - 24 Blues A
There are plenty of photos there too. It looks like a decent sized crowd turned up.

It's obviously really hard to separate Chiefs/Canes/Blues in terms of who you'd back to go all the way, still early stages.
The Chiefs chances of winning this year could depend on McMillan's inclination to select experience at all costs, because if you look at Crusaders game (whereby only a late intercept swung the momentum) the Chiefs almost certainly woud've won if the likes of Poihipi, Sititi, Norris had featured. I understand Norris and Sititi were playing for the development team that weekend which was kinda ridiculous, it wasn't clear if Poihipi was purposely left out but considering how average Tupaea looks in comparison and the fact that McMillan has a tendency to trust in experience or All Black capped guys over others I'm assuming it was just an error on his part.
come playoffs I'd like to see-
Ross, Taukei'aho, Dyer, Va'ai, Lord, Finau, Jacobson, Sititi, Ratima, McKenzie, Rona, Poihipi, ALB, Narawa, Stevenson. Thompson, Norris, Ahio, Ah Kuoi, Parker, Roe, Ioane/Jacomb, Tupaea.I've tentatively put Rona on the wing instead of ENS because he looks extremely confident and composed under pressure, he's a smarter player and stronger defensively than ENS. He's the type of player you just want to have on the field in a knockout match.

That's a very strong dev team.
I had thought that Malachi Wrampling-Alec might get a game. He has been injured but is in the NZ U20 squad. I'm always interested to see which extras are selected. The reserves include a few U20 players.

But, speaking to the Waikato Times from Sydney on Saturday, McMillan, while unsure exactly “how acute” the injury was, was quietly confident Stevenson may well not be out of action for the multiple weeks that come with grade two or three hamstring tears. “He’s walking around today so potentially not as bad as what we initially thought, but obviously bad enough for him to come off the field, so he’ll be a day-by-day proposition, I think, in terms of his availability for the next game [against the Force in Hamilton on Saturday night],” the coach said.
We should get an injury update this week I would think.

The injury looked high on the hamstring too. My understanding, if it is a tear, high hamstring injuries can take a while. Of course, I could be full of shit.

100% high hamstring strains are worse if its a tear a lot worse.
Even if you are walking the next day it doesn't mean a quick recovery,I have had a couple of strains and a tear in my time high strains are niggly to get over.
I have had a few players I coach go through them as well.
Groins and calfs are shit as well to get over. -
Josh Lord will be good to go next week.
-
From today's Waikato Times:
Lord - a recurrence of his knee injury (not ankle), being assessed but likely to miss SR
Ah Kuoi - MCL, precautionary resting
Finau - no dislocation or break of AC joint, likely 3-4 weeks
Tupou - facial fracture
Stevenson - back training and could be able to play next roundEdit:
The Chiefs have also provided an update.
