Tamati Ellison realising he might not be getting that Head coaching job as soon as he thought

@SouthernMann Could Todd Blackadder comeback to coach Saders and bring Richie and few others back?

If I were the Brave Lupus, I'd be demanding the world to get Richie out of his contract, given that they just won the comp for the first time in forever (I think 15 years). I'm sure they had designs on being competitive for more than one year.

@Landers92 Does Richie Mo'unga want to come back though? The only time he has every talked about this, he seemed adamant that he wasn't interested in a return to NZ rugby?

If no Mo'unga next year, who does start at 10 for the Crusaders in 2025?

Despite Burke being close to returning, Penney said Havili was their first choice 10 for the foreseeable future to build a settled combination with midfielders Dallas McLeod and Levi Aumua. Rivez Reihana drops to the reserves.

Surely that's already settled, tho I guess foreseeable future could be 'until the end of this game'

Not that this is really ground breaking news anymore or anything but I have heard from an extremely reliable source that the Crusaders are pushing very hard to get Mounga back for next season.

If there were any doubts around those stories just being rumours, they can definitely be put to bed.

I didn’t ask any other questions about what the chances were with him getting out of his contract etc but from what I understand Japan clubs aren’t keen on giving early releases.

Very very hard to get out of a Japanese contract,However Todd Blackadder is the coach of Ritchies club in Japan that may help.
I hear maybe another ex AB maybe on his way back from Japan for 2025.

Frizzell? Where is he likley to land if he returns?

Yeah Frizzell not sure,a couple of teams are after him so I hear.

The rumour was always that he wanted to go to the Crusaders, so you'd imagine they are one when you consider the struggles at times in the loose. The Highlanders are probably the other one.

With our fate pretty much now depending on the Drua being beaten by the Rebels in Fiji, the focus on the forum now can pretty much be on next year and who we can recruit.

That is something I didn’t want to ask mate. Didn’t want to step on any toes and come across as too nosy haha.

I’m sure the money is the main part in play here but Richie’s father has not long passed away so there’s a theory going around that he might want to come back to be closer to his mother and be able to help out there. She’s currently with him over in Japan.

Again, just a theory but something to consider.

Personally, I cant see him getting out of his Japanese contract.

Would be one heck of a decision to make if he went there considering they already have Grace, Blackadder, Lio Willie and Gardner who can all do a job at 6. Would cause a trickle down effect im sure.

Only way I see him landing at the Crusaders is if Blackadder is leaving.

    Blackadder is signed through 2025,
Frizzell we will wait and see were he lands
But a couple of teams are talking to him.

Mail, or Maille, is the correct term for what the un-learned call chainmail. Crusaders logo of old wore mail, ergo my mail is crusaders. Pretty obvious

Can’t tell if that’s sarcasm or not haha.

If it wasn’t. I was referring to the potential move to the Crusaders not making any sense to me.

@Chris Do you have any word on what's going to happen with the Crusaders props and, particularly, which side they're planning to play Big Tamaiti?

Presumably, next year we will have Newell, Williams, Bower and Brewis - which is either two tightheads and two looseheads, or one tighthead and three looseheads.

If the former, then Sykes-Martin would be a decent third loosehead - and Calder probably a third tighthead.

If the latter, we wouldn't need KSM, but I think we'd want to recruit a better second tighthead than Calder (who would be OK as third-string).

I'd rather see Tamaiti playing loosehead, though.

I think they are talking about promoting Seb Calder
and KSM and using Tamiti and Bower to cover TH.
but I think they will use Tamati as no.1 LH and no.2 TH if that makes sense.
It is very hard to find another decent TH with experience in NZ.

@Chris Sort of what they were planning this year, since I think we started with (in my eyes):

LH Tamaiti, Joe, George and Finlay
    TH Fletch & Owen.

I want to see Tamaiti playing plenty of loosehead, because I think that's his future in the ABs - and I think he and Fletcher are our best pair of props.
