Blues looking to bring Barrett in as an injury replacement.
I'm not a fan of players coming back into squads from overseas like that.
Based on what has been posted previously he won't be allowed to play in the knock out games. He might be allowed to play in the last round robin games

He can play , with NZR compensation for injury, which he's got, when he plays unsure
I think he can only get dispensation for the round robin:
Speaking to Newstalk ZB’s Rugby Direct Podcast, New Zealand Rugby’s head of professional rugby Chris Lendrum explained the process for players to be able to turn out in Super Rugby after stints abroad. “You’re unlikely to see any of them in Super Rugby,” Lendrum said. “The competition rules are that anyone playing offshore as of April 1 in a Super competition year can’t play in the finals. “The very most you would see is someone coming back in as an emergency replacement for a few games to fill a gap. “Even then, they need dispensation from the competition. Obviously, it’s not impossible, but it’s not that likely.”

Assuming it is just for two rounds he would be really useful
Perhaps Perofeta needs another week to get right? Put BB on the bench instead of having Evans cover 10.
The Blues would have the opportunity to give Plummer a week off before the finals too. He's had a large workload and hasn't subbed off much

@Duluth No injury replacement for Zarn ,he's available is my understanding for whole comp, trained with Finlay at 9 , the bench boys , Perofeta was there also
Seems like the same situation as Afoa in 2023
Afoa was an injury replacement for the Crusaders He got dispensation to play a couple of round robin games. He wasn't playing early enough to be available for the finals

Parsons said on the Aotearoa Rugby Pod that Cashmore "went down on the weekend", so might be another 1st 5 out.
He did make an interesting point about the playing before April rule. At some point it has to be flexible
For instance the Tahs have lost a ridiculous number of props. If they were in the finals, some of their props arrived after the cut off date. Surely they would be allowed to use them?
It gets murky though. At the moment the Blues still have enough players to cover 10 and fullback. One more injury and they are playing people out of position

Any idea if they are replacing Lay next year? We have four good props, and hopefully Sheck will develop well at tighthead. Still need six good props in this competition though.
I had forgotten that Tevita Mafileo has been rumoured to move back. Covers both sides. Better loosehead?
