Wider Crusader player and Cantab Joe Brial has signed for the Reds for the next couple of seasons.
-
As I said a week ago that seemed to have soured The Crusaders starting talking to some others.
I believe the Hurricanes were also interested but Isaiah started to play them off a bit and the Crusaders and Hurricanes backed off. -

Where were NZR in these negotiations, surely they have an interest in keeping top young NZ talent in NZ?
Edit: @Chris Not asking thise questions specifically of you for an answer, but just musing out loud on the situation.

This seems like a pretty big deal.
I thought Armstrong was going to the Crusaders?
Looks like the decision not to pick him in the u20s this year has come back to bite us. Could potentially be a big loss to NZ rugby.
-
Yep that is what I hear,The NZR were not interested apparently which is strange considering he is eligible. The Crusaders did approach the NZR which they have to for all signings with that idea of NZ u/20s for 2024 but NZR did not pick up the ball.
edit The Crusaders apparently are looking for a First Five with experience to cover Burke and Kemera which makes sense.

Another great decision by NZR. Not fit for purpose.

@akan004 those two leaving our shores is obviously a loss to New Zealand rugby, however we should all be happy for the Drua that they are able to attract this sort of talent at such a young age. They now have a franchise first five that will they can build their team around in years to come.
-
Yep have to agree, A loss for us, but great gain's for the Drua and they need those signings.
-
@Canes4life agreed, loss of one potentially good player should not be a too bad for us, we should be able to develop other options....but gaining him could be a sea change for Fiji

Marty Banks is available.

Well. Seems some NRL pundits are barking up the wrong tree with this one https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/news-2023-the-mole-roger-tuivasa-sheck-clone-solomon-alaimalo-clubs-offer/79c60a6f-ef8e-49ee-8946-b8375613aa14

@SouthernMann he'll always be a disappointment (not personally as i know he had issues) just the opportunity missed, could have been just what we needed
