Chiefs v Reds

Watching delayed as per usual.
Lots of pretty rugby by the Chiefies. Whilst they've played the better rugby, they've really fucked up not to be leading.
Should be waay ahead, but they doing their best to keep the Reds in it.
Need to play a bit ugly to capitalise on their betternecity.

2012 the Chiefs won super rugby
2013 @Nepia switched allegiance to the Chiefs
2013 fucking taranaki switch to the Chiefs
Since 2013 what have we won? Nothing
And we play in the shithole called NP and we lose to a terrible side in QldTaranaki is where football teams (and Nepia) goes to die

Why are you telling lies? I came with Rennie, Cruden and Retallick in 2012. I'm one of the big four of the Chiefs rise to the top.

@Stargazer been a hell of an effort from the Reds, thought this would be a one sided romp given the injury toll they have
I think the Chiefs thought so too

Pretty sure the reds lost that fwd way back,,,,
That looked awfully like a forward pass.
The Finau try one? Would have liked to have seen some replays from above for sure

ENS such an improver
One of my favourite players to watch this season. Pity he plays for the real Evil Empire…

That pass by Josh looked very forward and I don’t even think Josh’s hands were in a backward motion.

I hope you aren't describing Bradley Carnegie Thorn (the post above yours).

Wow, what a game.
Thought I heard him say advantage over.
I didn't hear him say but think it went enough phases. I don't think Thompson should have taken the risk of getting held up.
Good win to the Reds.
Finau in attack and Nankivall when he came on aside that was a pretty dud performance across the board. @antipodean's mate DMac had his worst match of the season. Ratima is physical but he lacks the clearance and decision making of Weber.
Ratima is good when he comes off the bench and has to fit the rhythm established by Weber. Left to set the rhythm he kills it instead. Too many other players then trying to make up for that split second with forced passes and poor decisions.
When will players learn that going for a close quarters try against a set close defence is very low percentage now? Dumb by Thompson and I feel he was trying to make amends for earlier errors.
As for the advantage. While I liked that as spectators we got to see ball in play rather than kick and drive, it also seemed that Williams painted himself into a corner by allowing too many side to side phases and felt he couldn’t go back to the offence. An offence than possibly took away a created opportunity. There was never any tactical or territorial advantage achieved from the play. The ball went sideways and backward and was always slow (which is the case when the offside line is the try line).
It would have been criticised if the penalty was called after 15 phases but it should also have never gone that far IMO. Tough one for the ref. Damned if you do….Great ticker shown by the Reds and deserved win against a slightly off Chiefs. Shows what value BBBR, Sami T and Cane bring to the team. That’s a fair bit of leadership and hardness missing and if this is an indication of next year then there’s plenty of work to do and shoes to fill.

@Bovidae Thought Williams made a bloody good job to be honest.
Anyway just got back from New Plymouth and going to game etc, and didn't think it was that bad at all. A bit of a messy game, but reminder why I love sport, there no guaranteed winners.
At Park I had feeling in first half Reds were just hanging on, and the Chiefs were a bit clumsy and not accurate with breakdown work or ball retention, and as second half went further you could see Reds starting to really believe, and just knocked everyone with a Chiefs jersey over, You could feel whole momentum change.
One thing I would add I think someone needs to have a word to DMac about studs or boots he wears, made a beautiful break, could see everything opening up in front, and then slipped over, that rugby 1-2-3 making sure you got right sprigs for ground, I have noticed him do it a few times this year. -

I wonder if the turf was a bit loose?
