Zarn has had a good game as replacement
He's been playing well for a couple of years. Unfortunately behind BB and Perofeta for 15, and has struggled with injuries. So, consistent play and continuing to improve has been good to watch; it's not just one part game.

It's quite ironic that a couple years ago on the Breakdown, all the Super coaches were asked to pick a name of a player to look out for in preparation for the season ahead. The player Leon identified funnily enough was Zarn Sullivan so I really don't know why he hasn't had more game time up until now, because he is quality.

He mentioned in the after match interview that he'd been told the accuracy of his kicking from hand had dropped. So he's been working on that. Sounded like he got a small kick up the arse at the start of the season

Lol lol lol the irony, if Zarn's kicking was considered inaccurate and that was the reason for his non-selection, would it be fair to suggest that Beauden should also not have been involved in the matchday 23?

Depends what the situation was. If a young player is taking it easy and training and his standards drop it's not the same as an experienced player out of form. Who cares, it's all good now. They are both in form and they are both certainties in the top xv

BBs in form? Could have fooled me.

Last two matches, yes
He's had some good moments but is far of what he is capable of IMO. Is very hestitant and shy of contact for starters. Has been dropping back then kicking possession away before getting close to the gain line and leaving his forwards in no mans land.
Some signs that he is coming right but 'in form' seems a stretch. -

this just isn't true. he hit quite a few rucks on the weekend to keep ball. Just because he's not trucking it up in to traffic doesn't mean he's playing bruise free footy.
I thought he played alright again on Saturday, but i always say that when the Blues are smoking an overmatched opponent. There were holes everywhere which is where he is at his best. Played a decent FB game. Still shits me as a 10 for the reasons i said repeatedly earlier in the thread

@Steven-Harris Someone was a bit triggered by that comment; immediately starting about Mo'unga. #whataboutery

@Stargazer saw that 🤦🏻♂️..from a Blues piece its bloody frustrating , agree with all the coms on the forum , quite frankly hes a liability at the minute ..Saddens me to say that as BB is a talent

Zarn's ceiling is much higher than Perofeta, who doesn't appear to be anything more than a good Super rugby player and back up at international level.
MacDonald has been putting a handbrake on his team for last 3 years with his reluctance to start Sullivan at 15.
Imagine a scenario where both MacDonald & Holland become AB selectors, every NZ fan's worst nightmare...

14 starts at fullback in 2021-2022. One less than Perofeta. But there were a couple of injuries that influenced that number too

@Duluth A few of MacDonald's 2nd choice players are better than guys he starts for big games, watch Perofeta in any loss against NZ opposition, including the final against Crusaders last year, he's not suited to 15 at a high level, he's too small, not strong enough in contact, and not a strong defender. Sullivan can play direct and just offers more physicality, could be a great 12 for Blues as well.
