I was at that game, should be a happy memory, it was fun , but the next week destroyed it I guess

Haha. Gavin Hastings would be banned for life for that head high tackle on John Timu nowadays !

It produced a lot of quick ball, quick for the time anyway

Do you miss the stomping as well
Also, that video is incorrectly named, it can't be the most brutal moments if Richards on Bunce isn't included.

@Nepia Maybe I should watch it again and count up all the yellow and red cards that would be dished out today.
Do you have that amount of time to spare.

@Daffy-Jaffy That Lion's team was interesting. 1stXV could easily have won the series.
2nd XV devolved into a rabble that you wouldn't wager on beating a Heartland rugby side.
Rucking was great. Wasn't a footy game if you didn't come out with a few stripes. Some of that jumping though should have been punished.

With the exception of their inspirational captain from memory it was full of Scotsmen who were barely good enough for Scotland let alone the Lions.

@MN5 Your memory plays you semi- false.
Hastings was the only Scot in the test team. I think there were 6 or 7 Scots in the original touring party ( the second largest contingent) which means a fair few were in the dirty dirty's but thye squad and both teams were dominated by Pomgolians. More than 15 made the tour.
Of the Scots I remember Burnell and Milne in the pack and of course the other Hastings. They were good enough for the Lions.
The tour fell apart because the players came to hate the management (not McGeechan but managers). Wade Dooley went home to attend his fathers funeral. NZRU said no problem with him rejoining and they would foot the air fares but the tour Manager said you can only come back in a non-playing capacity This didn't go down well.
Then they should have won the first test but were robbed by poor reffing. The dirt trackers were never going to break into the test side and they knew it. This coupled with a sense of injustice meant they pretty much chucked it in.

Ah yes, Gavs brother got injured early on. He would have been an option for the test team
