@canefan Boult under lights with the new pink ball is absolutely unplayable. Another reason to be even more annoyed that they didn't call him up, playing a stop gap journeymen instead is an absolutely awful decision.

Same old shit that seems to characterise the current post golden era. Just bloody keystone cop level clumsiness

Always thinking about what’s ahead of them rather than ensuring they win the game at hand.
Must rest x player so he won’t be tired in 6 weeks time etc etc

I don't think playing a late career journeyman is thinking ahead. Who does that Indian kid from Wellington have to kill to get another game for starters?

Great effort to get this close before the new ball. Set up almost perfectly for an innings change.

Poms might end up regretting that declaration.

I'd be verrrry tempted to declare as soon as we get a lead, psychologically it puts us on the front foot - they couldn't finish the job, we decide when our innings ends, and we get to charge in with the new ball under lights.

26 overs remaining, we don't want any less than 20 tonight.

Oh well, incredible innings from Blundell, and the bonus that our innings has ended at almost exactly the right time.

England still with their noses in front given we have to bat last, but 25 overs under lights will be very interesting.

I haven't been following the test until tonight. I see that Conway and Blundell got runs. Nicholls missed out.

I probably could have told you that before it began.

Southee a bit too good for Crawley. Just need him to get a feather on one of those.

Yep better length from Southee than Wagner who is just too full.

Yeah, he's spent so long bowling either full or short as first change, it's probably not that easy for him to settle into the right lengths with a new ball. Man we could use Boult and Jamieson right now.

Not great stuff from Wags, squandering the new ball. He should probably remain first/second change regardless of who else we pick.

I kind of think we need to have them about five down by close of play tonight, because if they bat past "lunch" tomorrow, we're going to be at dire risk of being skittled under lights on the third day.

Nicholls will make runs just as he's about to be dropped, kicking the can down the road a bit longer

we're getting pumped here. Not cool at all. This is critical in the test, and we're losing the initiative and the beneficial conditions.

Tickner starts with a bunch of short shit as well. I'd take CdG in a heartbeat right now.

Southee unlucky not to have a wicket yet. He needs some support at the other end though.
