Westlake came back from the dead to win their quarterfinal game vs Hartpury (UK).
Down 19-7 with 3 mins to go they managed to score a converted try then another a couple of mins after the whistle to tie it up 19-19. Kicked just missed but they go thru after scoring the first try.
Isaac Murray-McGregor had another great game scoring two of the tries. Kid has talent

@JK apparently the Crusaders academy have signed Isaac Murray-MacGregor and James Cameron. Probably Westlakes 2 best players this season. Big loss to the Blues region
Yes they have played for the Crusaders junior side in 2023.

Yep been mentioned a few times in this thread towards the end of the college season.

How was the NZ school chosen, obviously not the school champion or were SBHS unable too go and so westlake was offered it?
-
@Kiwiwomble It's an invitation event so I expect SBHS were asked but couldn't afford to go. Maybe SBHS are going to the Sanix next year.
In the short time the World Schools Festival has been going the majority of the schools have been from SA, as they organise it.

Other NZ schools went to earlier tournaments, although the results don't make for good reading.

Looks like Hamilton Boys won it last year? The SA team they beat (Grey) college sent there top 16year old team though. Not sure what grade the SA teams are this year

@JK There was plenty of whinging on SM from South Africans after the final result. For some reason they think that the NZ schools are U19s, which clearly they aren't. The Hamilton BHS team that played in the final also included a number of 15 and 16-yr olds.
Whatever their ages, that Grey College team was huge, and I am sure that the EG Jansen team will be full of big units too.
