I don’t think any of these 4 have won it before so we will have a new champ.

Yes. Looking at the records, Southland BHS lost in the 1987 final and Palmerston North BHS lost in 1996 and 1997.

2012 is the last time a South Island school even made the final (Otago BHS).

You know a school 1st XV's management is dodgy when they keep the camera on them the whole bloody time! There's video evidence of the cheating by the Scots College coaches! How the heck did they get the decison on FAHS appeal overturned?

is that the official game footage? seems to be spending all its time on their bench as if they were looking for something

that is criminal, could the final not have been pushed a week and FAHS play it as they deserve too? looks like Scots were just trying to punish FAHS

@Kiwiwomble I don't think it's the official game footage, but I'd say the person behind the camera knew something fishy was about to happen. Why else would they focus on the team management and bench?

There was no time to play the final a week later! The Top 4 starts this Friday!

@Stargazer its really weird as thats obviously a filming scaffold, right on half way close to the sideline, also looks like a proper camera on a tripod (stable) rather than just someone using their phone...but yeah...filming the bench rather than the game, super sus, whos ground was that at?

fair enough, just really feel for FAHS, rightfully should have been able to play their final, Scots appealing just to default just seems petty

That's appalling dishonesty all round from Scots College. Feilding Ag can rightly feel aggrieved. One wonders if there is something in the Scots charter that trumpets honesty and integrity?

It was a home game for Scots College and the game was supposed to be played on their own ground, but a day or so before the game,it was moved to another ground in the same suburb. I don't know why. Still huge home advantage.

Why Scots got to play at home was a debatable decision, too. The first semi is played between Super 8 schools and is based on merit: it's at the ground of the highest ranked Hurricanes team in the Super 8.
The second semi, between the Wellington Premiership winner and the highest ranked Hurricanes school in the CNI competition, was played in Wellington, last year. As there is no ranking to determine the home advantage, it would be fair to alternate between Wellington and the ground of the CNI finalist. So it should really have been played at Feilding's home ground, this year.

A pulsating Westlake-Sacred Heart contest was metaphorical ointment for Scots scab.

Hulking centre James Cameron introduced Murray-Macgregor to the scoresheet. A bullying bust at halfway saw the Crusaders-bound Murray-Macgregor galloping alongside Cameron to eventually take a regulation pass.

Have a look at the Crusaders U18 squad (I think there were two listed). If NH could keep their best school boy players they would be better for it. Now, they lose young talent to both Canterbury and Auckland.

@Bovidae It happens everywhere, unfortunately. For us in HB, the Highlanders are the worst, but Blues scouts have been at our school games as well this year and we've lost a few players to the Crusaders region in recent years, too. Several of our recent school leavers have been playing club rugby in Otago this year, and at least 3 of them are now in the Otago U19 squad. There's at least one in the Canterbury U19 squad. I haven't looked at other U19 and development squads, but I might find a few more. It's frustrating, but I lay some of the blame with the Hurricanes, too. Players know very well that the Hurricanes always look at Wellington players first & they may think they have a better chance at making it down South because of that.

I did read that they might not be showing all SFs live. I don't know if that is due to moving to CET Arena this year, and obviously games 2 and 3 overlap. A pity, if true, as the other SFs would be more interesting.

@Bovidae I assume they're only streaming the games from one of the fields the games are played on. I'm happy with the boys' game they're streaming, but would have preferred the other girls' game.
