Major sponsor tries to influence refereeing decisions ...
How is this at all acceptable?
Fuck em, I don't think you can watch most warriors games and not see that we almost always get screwed over in some manner. I'm fine with Paris speaking his mind and making them feel uncomfortable. If they want him to shut up they should do a better job of reffing consistently

More ex-warriors are weighing in, Monty Betham already called out the NRL weeks ago
The NRL counter by sending the token Mozzie on the reffing panel, to tell us we shouldn't believe what we see, there is no bias
-
@booboo it has grabbed alot of coverage on MSM in NZ too, they did a whole piece on it this morning on NEwshub, interviewed a ref, had the CEO on yesterday.
I dont watch alot of league, but thier refs to seem to be held a bit more accountable to poor performances than thier rugby counterparts, but I would say neither code has refs that 'cheat'.

Paris did change his terms to "unconscious bias", which I guess is a polite way of saying "conscious bias". Good point made by one of the front people on TV3 this morning, making on field decisions is one thing, getting fucked over by the bunker is something I don't think they can defend

@canefan which is no different to rugbys TMO getting it wrong too, which happens....
Warriors fans = SA Rugby fans?
I assume you watch the games? It is hard not to adopt a victim's mentality, league is easier to officiate than union and some of the clangers have been disgraceful and match defining. If you didn't watch, I'd suggest you watch the Storm ANZAC game which was one of the worst. It doesn't always make us lose per se, but it is difficult to build momentum when you are getting penalised mostly one way

@canefan I wouldn't listen to what Monty Betham has to say haha. He may as well be in the cheerleading team he's that biased, along with the rest of them.
Watch the games and judge for yourself. I saw an aussie news outlet article on FB about it. The feedback overwhelmingly agreed that the warriors get the short end of the wedge most of the time
-
any game day thread on social media is packed with non-warriors supporters pointing out inconsistencies.
We did not lose to Penrith because of the ref. In fact we still could have won had SJ not made a couple of massive blunders. But it is very hard to watch that game and think the two teams, in key moments, were not looked in differently.
It's not some grand conspiracy, i reckon it's just the same shit we see in different codes. Good teams get the rub of the green, and we're not a good team yet. And making a shit call against the Warriors leads to far less heat than say binning a Panthers player in a shock loss.
The Melbourne game was a fucking stitch up though.

absolutely Warriors fans are just playing the Sticky role of calling it out. Consistency needs to be applied but I dont think its a warriors specific thing either

But we are on the bottom of the rung as far as benefit of the doubt is concerned. Every team gets the rub of the green against us

@canefan I have, I watch a lot of league. As I said, the Storm game, yes, they were robbed by the officials. The Roosters and Panthers games - nah.
The warriors tried to out grind the Panthers who are the best defensive side in the comp led by Shaun Johnson who thought that trying to kick in behind To'o, Turuva and Edwards for most of it was the best way of winning the game which doesn't usually work as Turuva and To'o especially are the best wingers at getting their sides out of the danger zones in the comp. There was no variety to Johnson's kicking game and Penrith were happy to roll the sleeves up and defend for most of it against a side that lacks spark on attack. One thing Webster deserves credit on is that he has got the Warriors fighting and they look fitter than previous seasons, they're just limited, which is understandable given their roster. Johnson also made a howler after the Curran break where he grubbered the ball dead when there were better options.
Their lack of options on attack was the Warriors problem in the last 2 weeks, not the refs like the fans and media are making it out to be.

this is disengenious. No fans think we lost to the Panthers because of the ref. They certainly didn't help though
We were opening the Panthers at will in the first half because we passed the ball. That is the key to beating the panthers, move the ball and don't allow their middle linespeed to swallow you.
Fatigue set in, and we went one out

I was at the Roosters game. We didn't do enough with the ball when we were hot on attack. But it's all the little calls they got that add up to making the game harder than it should be

Finishing a game with fit players seems to be the biggest headache. That probably makes those ref calls feel worse when you're hanging by a thread. This leads to change in game plan and game management.
I do agree though that although SJs kick chase is second to none, his execution in direction and length has not been great in the last two weeks for short and long options and for his effort Dylan Walker hasn't really provided any creative alternative either, putting more pressure on SJ.
Will be interesting if we have a new half this week and Walker back to rotating role which he is good at.

A month ago Walker was an asset, play just as a 5/8 is hurting his game. Be good to get another half in, when is TMM due back?
-
@mariner4life TMM not due back until round 15-16 unfortunately.
Rumour has it Metcalf could be finally good to go this week but I would surprised if he gets thrown straight into first grade, nothing like a cold Friday night to test a hammy though lol.
Volkman carving in reggies and part of the reason the warriors are second there, but plays same side of field as SJ, Webster obviously not sold on what he has seen yet as cover and I guess he is probably more worried about carrying two not so great tackling halves.
Im expecting to see Walker named again at 6, but hoping for something different
-
Volkman gets his chance at 6, Walker back on rotation.
-
I just had to Google ‘what is a hip drop tackle?’
I had no idea. I thought I’d pick up what it was by watching a few games, but no.
How/why has this become a thing?
Why the crackdown on this and not high tackles? And a big middle finger to the NRL and their refs who think old mate at Vodafone is a villain for simply speaking the truth.
How about look in the mirror, fluffybunnies.
Full credit to Andrew Webster for sticking to his guns and refusing to blame anyone but themselves for their losses, he’s clearly focused on changing the culture at the Warriors. It’s what that place needed.
You stick to that Andrew and us couch experts will worry about bagging out the NRL and their biased fluffybunny refs.
