Australia v South Africa

series starts tomorrow
build up has been 100% about "sandpapergate" which is pretty boring and i bet SA don't even give a shit.
Day 1 at the gabba is tomorrow and for a change we aren't talking about a juicy wicket, oh, wait
"The pitch in Brisbane was looking extremely green just one day out from ball one with a healthy coverage of live grass an exciting prospect for the seamers."Lol fuck off. Bat first score 400+

Given the recent Warner efforts, I just read a copy of 'Steve Smith's Men' by Geoff Lemon.
A bloody good read. 4 years old now, but seems to absolutely nail the situation. He writes in an engaging, fun way too, easy to read but kind of interesting. Some very good insights into what happened that stack up a few years later.
He leaves a bit of a hook with the question about what Warner knows but isn't saying about others in the team ... and that's now come out.
Recommend it, fun, light read.
also, go Sith Efrica!
-
Anything that whinging bitch Warner is involved in I fervently hope falls apart. So my vote is for a draw.
-
Australia
David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (capt), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland
South Africa
Dean Elgar (capt), Sarel Erwee, Rassie van der Dussen, Temba Bavuma, Khaya Zondo, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Lungi Ngidi
Aussie chose to field

Oh shit way to get out skip
-
Pressure. Another 2 gone in short order. Not sure the wicket is doing that much but it is in the head of the batsmen.
-
Wait. It actually is green!
-
That never 'looked' out , live. Zondo.
-
Saw about 5 mins of this:
- 2 wickets, no visible cricket pitch, and an off break from Lyon rip though the surface and beat leg slip for byes.
My bold prediction:
- game won't reach third session drinks on Day 5.
-
What a lovely start to the Ocker innings.
Fucking lovely. -

Fucking lovely.Fern favourite Warner gone for a Golden.
Of course this means one of Smith or Labuschagne will score about a million.
Australia will still destroy them emphatically. This is not a strong SA team.
( well, actually they have some fine bowlers to be fair )

Batting is night and day though.

He loved a good opportunity to have a dig.
Shall I message him on Fagbook and ask him to make a special appearance on this thread ?

Yeah anyway, back to the cricket.
Worth mentioning how much I love the longest form of the game. I don’t have sky and I’m not even watching but by golly I love having a test on in the background ( of my screen, on cricinfo ) at this time of year.

Good ball for Starc’s 300th Test wicket
That’s a grand total of a minute of Australian commentators and that’s enough for the summer thanks very much.

Huge gap between bat and pad. Front foot nowhere.

The FoxSports/Kayo team aren't as good as the Channel 7 team IMHO.

Yeah sorry pal, I don’t want to get all Virgil on you but the wankfest ( even for a minute ) was pretty hard to take.
Starc joins the “greats”…….I’d argue some of them weren’t great they just played long enough to get 300 wickets but that’s just me.

Fucking hell Boland - one gets two

Have to say it's been good for a wet weekend here in the Naki, bit of test cricket to watch. I know it's showing y age, still what I enjoy, love the fact I can watch an hour or so wander off catch a bit more etc. And not too worried who wins etc a win-win. Hell that with a few Heineken Cup games of rugby has been not bad weekend.
I will second the comments about how much better the old 7 commentators seemed to be. And at tea break etc can someone shoot that O'Keefe? He obviously thinks he's hilarious because he pisses himself laughing at any weal quip he makes!!!
-
- Should have been under 80.
Perfect situation for Warner to save himself

Na he’s fucked either way.
A ) gets out cheaply
B ) gets a not out chasing fuck all and people point out he’s just doing his job

O’Keefe is a legend. I won’t have him spoken about like that.

Now the question: do you cut Warner off at 99 Tests?

Just had a look at his stats. 129 first class matches which includes 99 tests !
The modern game certainly skews things a bit. He certainly won’t be on the NSW honours board. Compare that to guys in the past who had three or four hundred games….
But yeah, anyone else stepping up ? You’d know more than us.
-
Fuck this is seriously stupid
-
This could have been a cracking series if the South African top six didn’t have such a relatively mediocre batting record.
-
South African bowlers are determined to help out with extras…
-
Fittingly yet another idiot bouncer past the keeper wins it for Australia. 19 extras in a total of 35/4 😂

Absolutely. Smith, Kallis and Amla are a distant memory.
Terrific bowling line up though which I guess got them as close as they did, look how well Rabada went !
