Unfasthionable opinion. David Warner is one of the great batsmen of the last 20 years and never gets the credit he deserves. To score a double ton on his 100th Test at the MCG will have been a sweet moment for him after coping a lot of shit in his career.
averages 60 in Aus, South Africa and Bangladesh
Averages 26 in England, 24 in India, 26 in the Windies, 25 in Sri Lanka and 13 in NZ. Has never scored a 100 in any of those countries
That does not say "great" to me.
Similar sorts of numbers to Latham really. And look, most batsmen pad their averages against the shit sides, but agree to be a great you should at least have a respectable record in the tougher conditions.
Anil Kumble: averaged 20 in India and 40 outside India.

Carey is such an enormous upgrade on Paine
(incidentally, where does a bog average cricketer with 35 tests get the unmitigated gall to release a book?)
This Australian side right now looks easily the best in the world. Their batting is full of runs, Lyon is still a canny operator, we've discussed the ridiculous pace depth already, and Green is coming along nicely.
Horribly one-sided summer of cricket.

Haven't you heard? - England are reinventing cricket
Best side ever, anywhere, any time - in the history of the game.

Australia will hammer them.
-
Not possible. I read it in the English press
-
god if i never heard that term again it would be too soon
-
It does add a lot of spice to the next time they meet
-
how good is Green going with a broken finger just hanging around for Carey?
-
because there are still 7+ sessions left
(and the ACB needs the ticket revenue)
-
perfect
Starc bats long enough to get hit in the head. Aus immediately declare
Starc fails concussion protocol, new bowler brought in for next innings

Don't think anyone is suggesting Tommy is a "great".

Really wasn't he already injured? Is there a bit of skullduggery going on as you can replace for concussion, but not normal injury?

yes, that's the rules (go read how loosbuschange got his start)
but i was making that all up (it was super convenient timing though) and Starc is bowling

No, and my comparison was to say that Warner can't really be considered a 'great' either, he's just extremely effective and bludgeoning poor bowling attacks.

Nobody said that.
They are getting a lot of positive press as they are winning playing very positive cricket. Winning 9/10 tests in 2022 after failing to win 1 in previous 17.
The general talk is they are “up for the Ashes” but nobody is predicting anything, given how good Australia are and how much they will push/test the new mentality.
God forbid a team gets positive press after a stellar season.
