The HB U18 Boys team is supposed to play their final game of the season against Manawatu (in Napier), but I've not been able to find any info about what time and where. The HBRU info about rep rugby has totally stopped, it seems. Maybe the game has been moved to somewhere in Manawatu? Or cancelled?

Booooo
In a thrilling conclusion to the 2023 Hurricanes Under 16 Tournament played at Mitre 10 Park in Hastings today (proudly supported by New Zealand Community Trust), Hawkes Bay and Wellington fought to a stalemate result, with each side having scored 22 points at full-time.
Under the Rules of the Tournament, in the event of a draw, the team that beat the other in pool play is declared the winner, meaning that Wellington won the Don Broughton Shield, having defeated Hawkes Bay by 17 points to 15 earlier in the Tournament.
In the Final, Wellington led the match by 17 points to 7 at half-time (with the benefit of a penalty try awarded for foul play in-goal), with Hawkes Bay fighting back to win the second spell by 15 points to 5.
In the Division B Final for the Saracen’s Cup, Poverty Bay leapt out to a 17 points to nil by half-time, before the old rugby truism “it’s a game of two halves” prevailed. Hawkes Bay Development scored three tries, (two converted) in the second half to snatch the title by 19 points to 17.

2023 Hurricanes Under 16 Tournament Team (selected by Darren Larsen)
Player of the Tournament: Isireli Qaranivalu (HBRU).
-
@Stargazer Have you overstepped Darren Larsen and put it upon yourself to select the player of the tournament!?
-
@Higgins Isireli did that all by himself!
By the way, I looked him up before posting this and he has already played two seasons for Hastings Boys' 1st XV! That's quite something for a player who's in an U16 team!
I also found a player with the same name (so I assume it's him) who's from Ōtaki and represented Horowhenua-Kapiti at U12 level in 2019. I don't know if and how they're related, but there's a Manu Qaranivalu who played 10 games for Horo-Kap in the Heartland comp between 2008 and 2012.

One important result not yet acknowledged from last weekend was the HB Tipping Teams magnificent victory against the combined North Harbour-Auckland mob by a narrow margin of just two - 43 - 41. The Maggies devised a superb gameplan for the season and it worked a real treat. We skilfully managed to underperform all season, generally operating at about 80% unbeknownst to our opponents. Come semi-final time last week against the undefeated NH-A team we aimed to hit them full bore, or that was the plan at least. However that nearly came unstuck when early injuries to Stargazer, Propsicle and Higgins negated their ability to score highly but that was offset by a real Captain's knock from Paj who led from the front with a superb performance in banking a mammoth 52 points (aided admirably by 51 from Stockcar86 with @kiwimatrix cleaning up nicely in the first drop role with 46pts) on what was a tricky weekend points scoring wise anyway to lead his team to victory and a spot in the grand final. Normally that would be against our arch nemesis and Minor Premiers Wairarapa-Bush but, despite also being unbeaten to that point, they got their faces rubbed in the dirt by Wellington to condemn them to the bronze medal match!
As luck would have it both Final teams also meet on the field in the final Ranfurly Shield match of the season (and of Wellington's reign if I have anything to do with it!) so whoever prevails in that will probably also prevail in the Tipping Championship match, unless of course we do the unthinkable. Naturally we expect our opponents to heavily endorse their outfit (the TAB has them as quite large favourites) so whilst it goes horribly against the grain our guys may have to face reality and do likewise, albeit through gritted teeth.
There are a few other tricky games that could go either way so contemplate wisely @Stargazer @Propsicle @Stockcar86 @Paj before making your picks and make sure you get them in before kick off time of 7.05pm tonight.Good luck guys - time to get out of the doldrums we have been in the last couple of years!
-
A big crown at the fish and chip shop tonight but I have just got my tips in so still in with a chance. Just waiting for @Stargazer @Stockcar86 to complete our full lineup. Come on guys not long to go now until 7.05pm kickoff!

For the record please be advised the Hawkes Baayy Tipping Team won the Silver Ferns NPC Tipping Competition Team's Championship taking Wellington to the cleaners by three points on the tie breaker in the final. Special appreciation again to skipper and life member @Paj for another stunning captain's knock in the final to get his team home in trying circumstances. Thanks also to team of tippers in @kiwimatrix @Propsicle @Stockcar86 @Stargazer who all contributed to the success when it counted and even grudgingly to @Higgins whose performances in the semi and final were barely of development squad level! Our victory celebrations should have been more boisterous but given outside events and goings on had to be severely pruned. Nothing more to be said about that.
Rest up guys until next time................................ -

@Nepia There seems to be a macro hiding in the background that picks up the word Hawkes followed by Bay and immediately deletes the Bay part. I know as I checked my previous post and it was showing in the text but not on the message board. I have found a way to rectify that! Simply type it without a gap between the two words or stick a dash between the two words (Hawkes-Bay or HawkesBay) to circumvent the sabateur.

Nice effort sabateur in nullifying my fix to get the name of my province recorded almost correctly but it is getting to the almost petty childish stage now that the suggested workarounds have also been added to the list that sees just the word Hawkes being published. Well I have made another slight change so await with my stopwatch running to see how long it takes for that one to also be added to the list of prohibited descriptions of my province!
-
@Stargazer I am unsure of the change options available to moderators when they get in and edit/change a post but I am 100% certain the way I have originally typed the name of our province still remains intact when I look at the submission in the edit option. I suppose I will eventually get a ban after I continue to find ways to get our name recorded almost correctly in full no matter how long these petty and vindictive changes keep taking place.
By the way how can you tell if your post has been moderated?
EDIT Forgot to say that my latest attempt to provide more challenge to the sabateur still has not yet been changed back to simply "Hawkes".
