AFL 2016

Giants did the Swans - and hard - at a sold out Spotless Stadium (mid-21k) tonight. The record crowd was probably more blown away by this bloke:

http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/this-giants-fan-was-always-going-to-leave-happy-regardless-of-the-result/news-story/458c95d0ac3e04221124cb08307b8516

A DAY out at the footy isn’t cheap. You’ve got tickets, transport, food and beers to pay for, and if your team loses, even more beers to drink away the pain.

But none of that matters when you walk away from the ground with $100,000 more in your bank account than you had when you walked in.

That was the story for one GWS Giants fan who stunned everyone with an incredible drop punt at three quarter time that earnt him the huge sum of money. Four tyres were stacked on top of one another and Paul Waterhouse had to kick a Sherrin from about 30 metres out and land it in the tiny opening.

Forget about kicking a goal to win a grand final, this was pressure.

But he obviously wasn’t fazed, and aced the challenge, prompting the capacity crowd of more than 21,000 to go absolutely nuts. As AFL.com.au reporter Adam Curley tweeted: “drinks on that blokeâ€.

Waterhouse, who traded in his Swans membership for a season ticket at GWS, also went nuts, channelling the Hayne Plane in his celebration before hugging his wife and daughter.

The lucky — and now, rich — fan can thank Giants sponsor Toyo Tires for the injection of funds courtesy of the kick for cash initiative.

Waterhouse’s mood would only have improved when his side went on to beat the Swans 105-63 in a convincing display that will only enhance the newcomers’ reputation as genuine title contenders this year.

Did you see the Giants' coach's press conference? 3 qtr time, game on the line, he's trying to talk about contested footy, and Stevie J is in the back of the pack giggling because the kick went in, and the message pretty much got lost.

News of the week - Women's AFL to launch for 8 weeks in Feb/Mar next year. Couple of marquee (pro) players per team. The rest semi-pro.

I heard it was going to be broadcast as well?

Hell of a year for women's sport here.
-
Couple of the players are hot too
-
No chance. Womens sport is shit.

He's a complete piece of shit and the perfect leader of his club

God, the TV "celebrities" have too much exposure over here.

In the main "TV People" should be recognised as some of the lowest forms of life in the planet. Why should we take notice of what they say, place importance on what they say and let them define what society is all about?

That Caroline Wilson (another TV person) is milking this all the way to the bank.

If a talkback caller made the same unfunny joke would there be uproar?

It's a shit fight between two TV people, which should be lower on the "meh" scale than 2 homeless people fighting over a new shopping cart

Major problem in the western world is listening to and placing importance on what TV people say - the fluffybunnies are glorified ad space salesmen
-

Eddie complicates this by being a media person AND the President of the club. He's never been short of bitching up a storm when he thinks Collingwood (or Melbourne in general) isn't being a fair go.

The fact that he's an unedifying clusterfuck of a human is just the icing on the cake
-

Eddie in shit ... again ... this time for wanting to drown Caroline Wilson.

Gives the half arsed "I'm sorry IF you were offended" non-apology.

That was a truly gross conversation. Wouldn't matter who they were talking about, joking about paying money to drown someone is fucking disgusting. The fact that it is a bunch of wankpuffin old boys dissing a female journalist again makes a mockery of steps football orgs in Australia are taking to stamp out sexism and general shitty behaviour. The head of the AFL must have been spitting tacks when this went down so soon after the positive good news story of the Women's league setting up.
-

The thing about Caro Wilson that upsets people , she isnt the usual bimbo type that seem to be working in sport these days , that is all smiles and speaks cliches

She is a tough old girl that knows her footy , isnt afraid to step on toes to get out a story , and not intimidated by the likes of Eddie
-

The Richmond Tigers will boycott all media with Triple M this week in protest over the incident. Apparently they are a real leader when it comes to women's rights.

Dustin Martin probably has a different view, after that ban he got for threatening that woman in a restaurant. oh, wait...

PR bullshit pisses me off. Especially hypocritical PR bullshit.
-
Collingwood accepts Eddie's apology.
