QF - North Harbour v Auckland
-
We probably were the better team overall, but Harbour certainly weren't helped by Li and Gatland going off.
-
Too many dumb errors by Harbour in a match they should have made safe. Deserve to lose when you do that sort of stuff in a playoff. Well done Auckland for hanging in there
Paul Williams let so much go that teams needed to play for position.

Really enjoyed that as a neutral, bloody entertaining
Really? Tight but messy, not a lot of attack, box kicking…
-
Not a great game. Harbour were shite without Gatland, but only played well for about 5 to 10 minutes. Auckland forwards took over without Gatland pinning them back. Funaki was slow as hell, Auckland forwards had about 30 to 40 minutes of decent play, and backline was very disjointed.
Harbour back three were mostly shut down.
-
Tuipulotu was sensational
-
@KiwiMurph Best player on the field in second 40.

Has he lost some weight? Looked smaller….

Auckland still has not played well in a single game this NPC. Somehow we are in the semis
Hopefully some of the injured backs and Choat return
Patrick and Akira were strong. Peita must start

Your forwards are beasts.
But backline not doing RTS any favours. He looked lost.
-
@KiwiMurph Got through a lot of work after long layoff.

Peita must start
Ridiculous that he is not starting. Ditch the aussie work experience student.

Ekuasi is better too
So frustrating

I thought Auckland missed and fell off way too many tackles.
-
Hope Ta'avao is okay. That's a lot of serious knock-outs this year. Not good.

Gibson in particular struggled. Choat is a far better player now

So did I hear correctly that Auckland play the winner of the Wellington v Hawkes Bay QF tomorrow?
-
@Canes4life Yip you heard correctly

That’s not what Sky Sport had on their screens last week.

Tuipulotu and Ioane kept the momentum going with their ball carrying. All of it close in, hard driving metres
PT 12 runs 26m
AI 17 runs 51m -
Was it Jack McTavish commentating tonight? So much better than the usual idiots. Just enthusiastic for the game, accurate calls, no agenda.
-
@ACT-Crusader Yes we did, especially in the first half, but we controlled the game in fairness apart from a 10 minute spell at the end of the first half.
Our set piece proved to be vital in the end and we did finish stronger as the game went on.I do feel that Taefu's missed penalty in the 2nd half was a bit of a turning point. 18-6 with Harbour having all the momentum would have been hard to come back from for Auckland imo, but instead, Auckland seemed to get a bit of confidence after that miss.

Like him too Tim.
Anyway game was messy as, but Auckland showed having a bit more depth would do the job, and forwards usually win games. -
@African-Monkey And Stevenson going for the lineout instead of kicking a penalty right in front.
Auckland definitely benefitted from the Williams lottery in the last 10 mins. Dalzell comically dived straight off his feet right in front of Williams at a defensive ruck, and he ignored it.
-
The game changer was Bryn Gatland getting injured and not being able to play the 2nd half.
Aoake's stupidity had a huge impact on the QF, but he only copped a yellow for what could have been a red.
-
-
@Stargazer It looked like a cross between an old league trick and a way too slow effort to get under the ball.
-
Hodgeman said something to the ref in the first half and Williams targeted him for the rest of the game. Incredibly petty and very unprofessional.
Some of the calls were embarrassing.
Loved the tight work from Akira, really rolled his sleeves up and did the dirty work. Well taken try too.
Him and Patrick were making the advantage line with ease.
Scrum and lineout went great, 100 backline injuries messed up any fluency. Looking forward that 9 backing up Christie at the Blues next year.

Was mainly watching the Breakers so didn’t see what was said. I saw a couple of penalties against Hodgeman in the second half that seemed fairly straightforward calls.

Will be interesting to see how much gametime he gets with Nock re-signing.
-
How do you have an former AB 8 on the coaching staff and a completely dominant scrum and your 8 struggles off the back of the scrum?
Push seems someone who look busy all the time but seems pretty ineffective with what he does.
If Auckland can get the connection between 8-10 going better they could keep winning.
-
Not a game to watch twice, but in case you missed it - a full replay -

There was a string of super pedantic calls against him. The one that sticks out is him being on his feet leaning on a ruck and was called for losing his feet. That law seemed to disappear when Harbour players were launching like missiles into rucks later in the game not even trying to stay on their feet.
Ref was also talking to Alex about “almost” penalties. He had a boner for him most of the game.

He’s way better than Nock IMO. Certainly more consistent and a better kicking game.
Nock has had a million chances, time to move on.

More like
"Team is as @Nogusta suggested 4 days ago".
Yea strange why they didn't just list them with their actual playing numbers the last couple of games?
