Solomon ran as expected. Leader and then faded and came in blowing a hurricane so that is good.

    He certainly needed the run.

He got home at 11pm and went straight to his feed bin and didn't budge from it which is a great sign.

    That's awesome news.

SammyC What are your horses? Standardbred or Thoroughbred?

I know Mariner is going into a Thoroughbred. Have you purchased yet?

    Tell us more!

We have Solomon running today at Hastings. He is there for match fitness more than anything else as he is 8 weeks between runs due to small hiccups.

Polly Grey Will be racing again soon and Sussex has her first jump-out on Friday which I am looking forward to as she appears to be a nice enough Tavistock 3 year old.

Harness Racing Mate 🙂 you probably look down on that kind of stuff in the North Island (and justifiably so).

I'm well aware of how rigged it is, but it's not a huge amount of money, and it's just a bit of fun for me.

Our horses are 2 year olds at the moment, so not racing yet. That should happen next season.

I've had shares in 4-5 (1.6% of each) over the last 18 months. Unfortunately, they haven't really gone to plan (other than one maiden win from one, and a "walkover" win from another when all she had to do was turn up to the course). I'll let you guys know when one is looking half likely (the one who won last month is having a few months' spell)

I also just got in on the Own The Moment Syndicate with Southland harness trainer Kirk Larsen. We bought two colts at the sale:

    • a Somebeachsomewhere out of One Dream (she won $900,000 and was the best 2&3yo of her year) and;
    • A Mach Three out of Miss Elsie (who won $150,000 or so, was placed in several group races & has left some good horses already).

As they're yearlings, they'll be probably a year or so away - the Somebeachsomewhere colt will probably be race-ready first by the sounds of it.

We have a Tavistock Filly that will jump out on Friday for the first time. I'm trying to not get excited by her but she does everything so well currently.

Both their mums raced at 2 & 3, so hopefully. The SBSW-One Dream colt is pretty athletic and in proportion which is why he's expected to be kicking along earlier.

It'll be an ask for our boys from Southland, but hopefully they measure up. I'd be happy with a runner or two in the Kindergarten Stakes next season. And then maybe DOMINATING the Forbury winter circuit the following year...

Yeah seems a pretty capable horse eh!! 😍

Was good to see someone try and run a different sort of race against her. Happy Clapper had a solid lead at the 600 and Hughy looked like he knew he had to wind her up. Did it with ease in the end!

Happy Clapper has won $6.5M. Imagine how much he would have won if he hadn't run in to Winx?

That horse is a fucking marvel. About 400 i out is looked dicey, because Happy Clapper wasn't coming back. But in the end Bowman never even gave her the whip, she just ran him down. Marvel

I am not sure Waller's nerves can handle the next two races, he breaks down after every finish. The fucking pressure!

Tickets bought for her final run on Queen Elizabeth Stakes day at Randwick, will be a ripper day out.

Oh, and i would like to welcome Mulligans the family, bought over the weekend. Carn the Mulligans!

Big day of racing today. The Newmarket is a Turkey shoot. And the odds are fucked. No way Osborne Bulls should be that far in front.

    I'm on Graff.

Expected them to all shuffle over to the grandstand but they clumped hide in the middle

Took bulls, sunlight and graff for tri as a bit of fun

Best bet for me today was ball of muscle to upset redzel. Love both horses but ball of muscle was huge last year, especially good fresh too.

Oh and how about the autumn sun??? What a run!!
