Spent the day at ellerslie following a pattern of winning money at Flemington and Randwick then losing it at ellerslie. Think I managed 3 places there and 6 winners elsewhere. Managed to get $20 worth of Vow and Declare but all my exotics missed.
Still a good day and bloody hot (for NZ in November) at the track. Made the beers flow all too easy

can one of you with actual knowledge tell me how about half the jockeys in the race, in their post race comments, complain that the place was too slow? Surely 2 miles is enough to know it is too slow and to do something about it?
Craig Williams got himself across from Gate 21 and was pretty much allowed to run the race in the way that suited his horse the best.

They're all whining that someone else wouldn't forfeit their race in order to benefit them.

That's standard Melbourne Cup. Sit and sprint. It would be good to see a few make it more of a staying race by increasing the tempo.

That edition of the MC was always gonna be run that way. There was a lack of natural pace and no real leaders. Magic wand was most likely to lead even from the wide gate but bungled the start and then bloody finch had to lead.
See my comments yesterday re how I tried to do the speedmap...it was pretty much what we got

I did see him pop up in the black book and wonder what he was doing down there!
He has never looked so good when we sent him down.
Funny thing was it was the weekend of Polly's run in Wellington and his leaving date kept pushing out due to a rough cook straight and he was still on the farm when we left Wellington and when we went through Taupo, Kylie said if he is still on the farm, we will race him ourselves.
Ten mins from home we saw the Transport truck pass us with him in it.
I think Saturdays race is a bit of a watch and see. He is likely a gallop or two short in my mind

anyone having a play today?

Here's something rough for a small bet!
Dana's Prophecy in Race 4 at Otaki. Paying heaps!

@Hooroo i just looked at that. i can see why it is paying $81. Any reason i should completely ignore the form and the record? Do you know it had a "special breakfast" this week?
I've only got one on today. All Spring Carnival i have been doing well by betting on anything that has a winning streak, no matter where they are. So there are horses coming in having won 4 on the bounce in the country, and because they have zero metro form, they still get light weights and big odds. Like anything, it's hardly any sort of guarantee, but it seems to be paying off this spring.
There is one in the last at Flemington today called The Mobot that is unbeaten (4 from 4), the last one being at Morphetville. It is currently paying $34 and seems to be heading out.

It's on last chance and onto a good track finally.
