Very impressive by the Japanese horse. Lane said didn’t it didn’t like the track too much but still had too much for them
Awesome ride by opie to sneak the shark the short way home. Got 50odd % of the first 4 but paid bugger all.
Best return of the day was fluking cheif ironside in the crystal mile.
Worst was that donkey out at kembla. Been told that it will win when it runs in the city at juicy odds.....apparently

I watched that kembla donkey. It needs some improvement

I've had a good weekend and bolstered the accounts for next weekend

@JK ha ha i backed that thing at kembla, I used to know some dodgy harness racing trainer in Hamilton, who used to used country races just to lose and then when the odds where good enough send it to Alex park to 30-1 minimum. Could never trust him, but if you hit the right race, you were guaranteed a good collect. Guy probably banned by now if he was still around

Nah mate small stakes for random shit like that.
There are two bets actually, both have the same 3 legs down and both have roosters to win as 4th leg. They both have different final legs which will discuss IF 4th leg gets up, along with possible hedge options to lock in a return. Oh and both can't win.
One is $50 to $16,037 so ony $321.75 to $1
The other is $25 to $22,095 so $884.81 to $1So the Roosters got up which means my multis are still live. Tense game!
One (the $50 one) has final leg as All Blacks to win world cup. The other ($25) has England to win.
Assuming England beat france and we both win quarters we should meet in the semis and then one progress to final and one live bet. Not sure would have the balls to ride it out so could hedge it with a big bet on the opposition.
I will be taking great interest in most games from here on in!
I'd imagine you'd be pretty delighted if Wales win the other semi - Wales at $4.25 a much more attractive hedge than SA at $2.27!

Had a great weekend on the punt. The Polly ride annoyed me as we were screaming for the jockey to let her role forward earlier. Nothing came from the back apart from her and she went down a neck. Frustrating.
Went to dinner at Ortega to celebrate her prep and decided to flag the rugby. That was a good decision.
In the paddock now until December

SA are $2.75 at the moment, only a 4.5point head start. So three options.
- Let it ride....@$22k on the line....well really its just the $50 outlay (or so I keep telling myself)
- Chuck approx $8k on SA at $2.75 meaning $22k return and $14k profit for either winner
- Try double up and take SA +4.5 @ $1.90. Means $11k bet required and worst case (ie England win by 5 or more) then an $11k return. BUT if SA win or England win by 4 points or less then return would be $22k plus another $10k from the SA +4.5
Interested in any other ideas tho.
Decisions...decisions
The ticket....

Fark me. That is one helluva bet coming in there!
But the Boks are going to win. So make your call accordingly
-
@JK I guess the sensible thing is to lock in the $14K return - but, where's the fun in that!**
You could do a sort of mini hedge on SA - combination of 1 and 2 - by chucking say $1K on South Africa. - so you get something if they win, but you're well invested in England.
** The fun is in spending the loot!
-
yeah the $14k looks the way to go I guess. curious did you have other variations that didn't work? That is one seriously good bet, well done regardless.

Actually option 3 I explained wrong. $32k is only if England win by 4 points of less. Otherwise its $11k if any other result.
Im hoping more $$ comes for England and odds push out to $3 and 5.5 points head start. Would be a lot better to hedge or play a middle.

Yeah had same bet with All blacks win. And earlier had 4 others, one with NZ win cricket, one with india win cricket and then eng / nz rwc options. All just on bonus bets that I had to use up back in Feb

Now you look here!!!!!! You play the $14k and you celebrate a massive win.
You’ve made your bed and there is champagne and roses at the bedside! Enjoy that shit!!!!
Imagine a 80 min draw and you get nothing!! Take the guaranteed $14k and do some thing elaborate that you wouldn’t otherwise spend the money on!!!

Back in 2007 a mate of mine had the Boks at 14-1 a few months before the RWC started. (Remember we looked really shite before that RWC and Jake White was almost fired just before it).
Placed a 100K pound bet on them, figuring he will lay it off as their odds are sure to improve as the tournament progresses.
Never did lay off even 1 pence. BIG balls. -
See the field for the "Golden Eagle" at Rosehill? It's a bit shit for a race with that prize money.
