Rough tips and other bets...

I just printed off the past performance sheet for the Cox. I was hearing for the past couple weeks that Lys Gracieux was the best Japanese import to ever hit the Spring Carnival, three lengths better than Mer de Grace, nigh on unbeatable etc., which may yet be true. But Mer de Grace travelled to Melbourne with 5 or 6 straight wins under her belt. Lys Gracieux has three wins in her past ten starts. Lots of prestige graded stakes in there certainly, and plenty of placings in those, but hardly unbeatable. Magic Wand hasn’t won in a year (!!!), but placings in huge races across the world, including several close runner-up placings to American champion Bricks and Mortar, and 2-time Arc champ Enable; must be one of the most travelled horses on the planet and gets a claim on the purse almost everywhere she goes. Draws barrier 3 and opens at 13/1 - watch the board. Looks like a great betting race. I’ll spend the next hour handicapping and place a couple wagers closer to race time.

@Hooroo is a bundle of nerves but his nervousness is resulting in a lot of beers on the table, so that's a positive outcome.
Wouldn’t expect anything less!
Make sure you tell him I’ve loaded up. It’s sure to help!

We've anchored Polly in the Terminating Pick6.

Polly runs third, hope @Hooroo enjoys rest of the day..still got Ricky to come

Re: Cox that was a great win for the Japanese champ. Te Akau Shark came from last to snatch 3rd.

That was impressive

Very impressive by the Japanese horse. Lane said didn’t it didn’t like the track too much but still had too much for them
Awesome ride by opie to sneak the shark the short way home. Got 50odd % of the first 4 but paid bugger all.
Best return of the day was fluking cheif ironside in the crystal mile.
Worst was that donkey out at kembla. Been told that it will win when it runs in the city at juicy odds.....apparently

I watched that kembla donkey. It needs some improvement

I've had a good weekend and bolstered the accounts for next weekend

@JK ha ha i backed that thing at kembla, I used to know some dodgy harness racing trainer in Hamilton, who used to used country races just to lose and then when the odds where good enough send it to Alex park to 30-1 minimum. Could never trust him, but if you hit the right race, you were guaranteed a good collect. Guy probably banned by now if he was still around

Nah mate small stakes for random shit like that.
There are two bets actually, both have the same 3 legs down and both have roosters to win as 4th leg. They both have different final legs which will discuss IF 4th leg gets up, along with possible hedge options to lock in a return. Oh and both can't win.
One is $50 to $16,037 so ony $321.75 to $1
The other is $25 to $22,095 so $884.81 to $1So the Roosters got up which means my multis are still live. Tense game!
One (the $50 one) has final leg as All Blacks to win world cup. The other ($25) has England to win.
Assuming England beat france and we both win quarters we should meet in the semis and then one progress to final and one live bet. Not sure would have the balls to ride it out so could hedge it with a big bet on the opposition.
I will be taking great interest in most games from here on in!
I'd imagine you'd be pretty delighted if Wales win the other semi - Wales at $4.25 a much more attractive hedge than SA at $2.27!

Had a great weekend on the punt. The Polly ride annoyed me as we were screaming for the jockey to let her role forward earlier. Nothing came from the back apart from her and she went down a neck. Frustrating.
Went to dinner at Ortega to celebrate her prep and decided to flag the rugby. That was a good decision.
In the paddock now until December

SA are $2.75 at the moment, only a 4.5point head start. So three options.
- Let it ride....@$22k on the line....well really its just the $50 outlay (or so I keep telling myself)
- Chuck approx $8k on SA at $2.75 meaning $22k return and $14k profit for either winner
- Try double up and take SA +4.5 @ $1.90. Means $11k bet required and worst case (ie England win by 5 or more) then an $11k return. BUT if SA win or England win by 4 points or less then return would be $22k plus another $10k from the SA +4.5
Interested in any other ideas tho.
Decisions...decisions
The ticket....
