owning a racehorse is fucking shit! Whose stupid idea was this??
So far, my ownership has consisted of waiting for her to get fit; drawing the carpark; drawing the carpark; having her scratched (from a race she drew the carpark) because another horse kicked her in the float; now having her injury worse than thought so she is out for a few weeks (with associated vet bills).
When does the fun start?

aaand, I'm not sure i can afford the one i've got, given she won't win any frikken money!!!
That said, the missus did say today "not a great start to horse ownership" meaning she is open to me continuing despite this less than auspicious start.
So yeah, maybe.

While I would love to have you in a horse (and do have mates in Aussie who are in ExpressMe) I would recommend you going local again as nothing beats being there to watch them race and win.
They are frustrating creatures. We have a tavistock filly that went so so well at the trials and then go foot sore and is out recovering. The owners we have in her are new to racing so they don't understand/are frustrated as to why she isn't running at the moment. That will be quickly forgotten if she wins first up.
Patience is very much the key.

Kind of the other way round. They will play hurt and then break down as they are generally very competitive. That why you need to identify the small things early

I can empathise! We nearly chucked it in last year but it came back to patience.

I might be keen to get in on one of yours this time next year, once the syndicate I'm in (the shit one, not the second one) wraps up.

That would be cool. Especially if a few other Ferners did. The SilverFern Syndicate certainly has a ring to it.
You will be a bit late for the Reliable Man Filly as she will be running as an early three year old by the looks of things. I have my fingers crossed she is good as she is light years ahead in terms of maturity as a two year old. She does anything asked of her with no fuss. And just as importantly to me, she loves a cuddle.

It will just be a racing lease so no buy in apart for the percentage share of the pearl series nomination. Generally works out to be $250/month per 10% share

My account got a much needed top up yesterday. Thank fuck.
Jayne's pick of the yard came home twice at good odds. And in a massive rarity, not only a winner at Morphetville, but a winner at Morphetville that paid $11

Me and a mate met for a beer at lunch and did easy trifecta/quinella. We got a $400quin and then at about 5pm we got a $5k trifecta. We were messed up and I was asleep before the rugby. Woke to the anthems of the cricket just after midnight. Great day.
Stupidly, when I got home I had gotten $200 worth of takeaways and gave half my winnings to the misses!!! Gah!!!!! Stupid booze

Had two at the trials today. Both went well, especially Mr Pickles. (I think he won his heat but results not published, just the video of the trial)
ExpressMe jumped like a rocket but we want her to sit in behind and run on home well. Having an apprentice on prevented that and she went straight to the lead. Pleasing run even though she doesn't like it that heavy and used it all up first half of the trial.

Boom! He did win which is a small surprise. He is only a little tacker but a big heart.
