Just watched the women's final. The BF7s should have won that final and would have, if:
- Niall Williams wouldn't have been so stupid to throw the ball away after Australia was awarded a penalty. During the two minutes she was in the bin, Australia scored two tries;
That's always a killer blow. Don't think she actually threw it away but that's how it is judged if you drop the ball and it rolls away from the area, and they all know it. Unlucky circumstances really as BFs thought they had the penalty which is why she picked up the ball. Split second error with big consequences.
- our kickers know how to kick. Risi Pouri Lane missed two kickable kicks and especially the last one by Tenika Williams was an easy one she missed. I suspect that goal kicking doesn't get enough attention during training. Why?
The Aussie women won by two points only. Not the most convincing win I've seen.
I said before the tournament that Nathan-Wong's absence would be a big blow and it was. We were effectively using our reserve reserve kickers.
This match was always going to come down to a small moment whether a card, missed tackle or kick. Such is Sevens and the equal teams

Disappointed the BFs lost. They did enough to win (or at least force extra time). Shame Saili didn’t run a little closer to posts for that final try.
The AB7s played poorly and Fiji punished us big time. We didn’t really trouble their defence and they fed off our mistakes.
Congrats to both teams though for getting to the big dance.

@ACT-Crusader Yeah, the medal may not have the colour we all hoped for, but losing only one match and finishing second is still a good result, even if it's not the best result.

@ACT-Crusader a nice way to finish a disputed season. Here's hoping they can challenge for top spot next season
