Final Blues player of the match voting tally
Points Player 12 Papali'i 10 Sotutu 9 A Ioane 9 Telea 7 Choat 7 Clarke 7 Heem 6 R Ioane 5 Sullivan 5 Riccitelli 5 Segner 4 Tuipulotu 4 Robinson 3 Suafoa 3 Laulala 3 Perofeta 2 Barrett 2 Christie 1 RTS 1 Tu'ungafasi 1 Rush Last year was Sotutu with Dalton 2nd. Both players got more points last year.
The big change from last year was Barrett, Christie and Perofeta were all prominent. Perofeta obviously missed a lot of games
Akira strong after his return from a long injury layoff somehow got into the top 4
Surprised Telea didn't get more points. Seems he got rewarded for the freakish games but not the others

@Machpants What? Who's "we"? And a Blues TSF poll shows that?
Best 3 players for the Blues, according to voters here. One dropped from ABs to XV, one dropped from ABs and XV. the collective voting 'we' obviously have no idea!

Sure but it is just an aggregate though.
Sotutu deserves the points he got. However in some other games he was off the pace or he was making costly errors. It was an erratic season for him.. I strongly doubt he'd do well in an overall player of the season poll (Probably Telea followed by Dalton?)

@Stargazer don't worry NRU couldn't read it properly either, thier post congratulating the Northland players they completely missed one of them.
-
@taniwharugby Ha, I was just thinking the person who makes the graphics for the Blues is also the person who makes the Northland graphics, considering those aren't readable either.
-
@Stargazer Blues seem a little desperate trying to get the most out of Sam Tuitupou. Surely it's time for him to hang up the boots.
-
@JK Although I don't like the Hurricanes losing talent, I'm less concerned about one SR franchise losing talented young players to another franchise than about a small province losing talent to another province. We (the Magpies Academy) are losing several good players every damn year!
-
@KiwiMurph Yep, that is the same problem. As I said, the problem is not SR franchises losing players; it's small provinces losing players. Although arguably Harbour has a bigger player pool than Ta$man, I still don't like it.
IMO, as soon as SR Academy players are ready for the step up to NPC, their home provinces should have first pick, not one of the provinces of their SR franchise (if that's a different one) and especially not the bigger provinces of the main centres.

There needs to be more pro teams and the location those pro teams should reflect the population spread
A single consolidated competition would enable players to play pro rugby closer to where they come from
But some people cling to the status quo, even though it is clearly broken

By the way, the Blues U18 team will play the Chiefs U18 team in Hamilton, next Saturday. (from the Blues socials)
And both teams will be missing their NZ Schools players, so strange to play this game now.
