The NZPA and it's Aussie counterpart might not agree with a competition without byes.
I also think getting rid of byes would create an unfair disadvantage to teams that are already stretched due to injuries, or teams with little depth.
I really don't see the problem with byes. How many of the people "complaining" about byes watch every single game each weekend?
why would i need to watch every game every week? i watch my team every week so its quite noticeable when there isn't a game, are you saying i should watch another team and thats pretty much the same thing/.
Back in Super 12 days, I used to watch every game (except some weird SA hours). Massively high quality, great rugby
-
@nzzp I still do, most weekends. I never skip a game when a NZ team is playing. Because I enjoy it and it's the only way to form an opinion about most NZ players if you watch all teams play more than one game. If you only watch your own team play, you're hardly able to comment on another team's players, because you've only seen them play once (4 teams twice), and it's practically impossible to keep an eye on all 30 players on the field at the same time.

@mariner4life That's the thing about a forum like this. You don't know everyone, what they do and why.

And what's wrong with that Kiwi?? Lol,
Mrs does suggest I watch a bit much, but I watch on any Saturday a college game, at least 1 but often 2 club games, and then a couple on tv.
I like Star watch all Kiwi teams' games, and usually any I think will be decent from Aus. Will also sometimes catch a Heinekin Cup/Challenge cup form NH, though usually on replay.
Will add I don't work anymore, but watched almost as much when I did work. -
lol fuck this comp is idiotic
if my app is correct, the Qld Reds are playing at 2pm Friday afternoon Qld time.
It's lucky there are no fans to be pissed off by this

Not sure how that harder than NZ teams playing in Perth at midnight. I don't know how good lighting is at park in Samoa, so guess that's why it at 5PM their time. It's a problem with an international comp, don't know what best was around it is.

Yep I realise that mate, but f*** em they're only Aussies!!
No seriously though I do understand what you mean, and no idea why game is when it is,. I was taking the piss a bit and was questioning ot too. I don't know if it something to do with Samoa (special day/holiday, or some such thing?)
I will add when I lived in Qld every bugger that I worked with were well home by then anyway -

The lighting at Apia Park must be reasonable as it gets dark quite early up there this time of year so starting at 5.00pm local time the game will finish in pitch blackness if they didn't have floodlighting. I suspect they are playing it at that time as it should suit all those working in town to go straight there after knocking off and those coming in from the villages can get there during daylight and for everyone to get back to their villages at a reasonable hour.

"Several easy-to-implement initiatives surely now must be considered. The first is that NZR could change its eligibility policy to enable players contracted to Australian Super Rugby sides to play for the All Blacks."
"It's hardly a wild idea as the players will not be out of sight and out of mind and maybe it would suit a handful of senior All Blacks to play a couple of seasons in Melbourne or Sydney to freshen themselves mentally while having an overseas experience."
"Seeing key Test players spend a season or two in Australia must be preferable to affording big-name All Blacks sabbatical clauses to play in Japan."
"NZR could also consider creating a system where young Kiwis who are unlikely to play much for their New Zealand club can be loaned to Aussie teams."
"And maybe most significantly, there has to be consideration given to bringing more Australian players into New Zealand’s provincial teams."
-
Man why do Journo's keep up same shit. I see no positives in picking ABs from Aus teams, and how the f*** would Aus teams going to compete with what the players get paid in sabbaticals. Also how the f*** is it going to freshen a player carrying some Aus teams against the kiwi teams.
I could perhaps young kiwis being loaned to Aus clubs, but yeah/na, who there would have any wish to look after them.I would also add, how far away from here is Gregor Paul, consideration given to bringing Aussie players to NZ provincial teams, seems he doesn't realise that it's been happening for a while anyway.
