@Old-Samurai-Jack I also liked the Sizzler's (SS) workrate and tackling.
Is he really only 1.9m!? He looked taller than MMT (maybe the camera angle)

was good to see so many players step up in this game; Dmac, Gardner, PT, Stevenson, Lam, MMT the front row, I thought TJ was better than many of the comms in here live too, he directed things well and pressured the midget Irish 9.

MMT seems to be that big body people talk about who carries and gets over the gainline, similarly Gardner, huge workrates.

Dominic Gardiner looked like a cross between Scott Barrett and Ethan Blackadder to me, the workrate and energy of the latter with the physicality of the former. Think he was on the receiving end of 1 or 2 penalties but yeah looked very promising.

@akan004 iIRC he looked handy when he got on for the Crusaders, but wasnt as good in NPC

He was completely outplayed in the NPC final by Delany, Blackwell and Bird at lineout time and he fell off a couple one on one tackles.

NZ Rugby need to stop selecting teams before the final has been played. No better measure of a player than when the heat is on. Gardiner isn't up to International standard. (yet)

Same goes for the non-selection of Cullen Grace in the ABs earlier this year when he was an obvious stand-out in the Super final.

I am happy you were wrong. Gardiner was outstanding in Dublin and this is good news for NZ rugby.

@Stargazer I'd didn't say they should all make the RWC squad but I do think fierce competitions for places is a good thing and brings the best of players. One many problems of the Foster era has been too many players who got picked repeatedly because they were his players.

That doesn’t mean the likes of Delany wouldn’t have flourished if he got an opportunity aswell.

Cudos to Gardiner, he was impressive.
