@canefan Brown Jnr is a great scorer, but man he is prone to some bad play down in the clutch. That turnover where he just threw it into Cotton’s arms and then that quick fire 3 point shot when we needed to use clock we’re pretty dumb.
We needed that win after the last 3 losses.

It frustrates me when we are up by a decent amount and instead of going for high percentage 2s we take I'll advised 3s

I see that Tai Webster has joined Perth. The Breakers still owned his rights so the Wildcats would have to pay a transfer fee.
Certainly some dumb plays by the Breakers in the last minute. Ironically, the Breakers could have gotten an easy 2 pts late in the game but Brown Jr dribbled to use up some clock. The wrong option on both occasions.
-
very nice to see the Taipans go to Brisbane and smash them. Spicy game too, heaps of niggle, McCall got in Baynes' head in a big way.
Brisbane are shit, and that Nathan Sobey contract is looking worse and worse. Bloke is probably more hated than Chris Goulding because at least Melbourne fans love Goulding. Suck shit Nathan.
-
Barry Brown Jnr once again playing poorly in crunch time. He really tightens up and throws dumb passes or takes tough/poor shots.
We shouldn’t have lost that.
-
How to sum up the Kings v Bullets in one pic
-
surprising lack of chat around the Breakers from yesterday?
What happened?
From a Taipans perspective what a run. 6 wins on the bounce, without the guy who was an MVP candidate through the first half of the season. Tough weekend with an all the way to the wire win over the Hawks on Friday, then a close fucking win away on the Sunday. We have winnable games left as well.
I find it hard to believe we are the 2nd best team in the country, but i believe we are the best chance of beating the Kings in a series. We already beat them 2-1 in our series this year, and that one loss was a missed shot and miracle 3-pointer from a road win.
-
I only saw brief highlights on the TV news. With Brown Jr out the Breakers will need McDowell-White and Abercrombie to step up to find those 20 pts. It looks like the former did in this game but Tom doesn't score enough points to be a factor now. On the plus side for the Breakers they have plenty of games against the Hawks and Bullets to come. Still need to win them though.
-
@Bovidae Hawks will be a shitfight. They lack talent but they fight! their little midget coach has them scrappy as. It's astounding to me they only have 2 wins when the Bullets exist, and there are a few other brittle teams floating around
-
We missed Brown Jnr’s scoring for sure, but we are in a hole and have lost our way on the defensive end. Too many breakdowns and it’s frustrating the dudes out there. Noticing a few more words being said between our guys and the odd arms out and pointing.
We need to regroup and get that team cohesion back.
On offence we aren’t running the Pardon high pick enough. Brantley is a beast but a bit too much iso ball for my liking. I think we need to give Rob Loe a few more minutes. He’s only playing about 10-11 a game but he’s a scorer and has really stepped up on his positional defence.
-
Bullets get an away win despite some favourable hometown reffing to the Phoenix. Baynes was pretty fired up in this one but basically fouled himself out the game. Harrison gave the Bullets some decent minutes. Jason Cadee have a big game and Sobey was his usual up and down self.

And the Breakers win in Sydney...
What a game. I don’t think we could’ve played a better first half given our two outs.
McDowell-White doing the lion share of ball handling and he was killing it. The float game was a killer. But he was asked to play more minutes ball carrying as our 4th string point guard struggled.
Massive win given we were the coldest team on the league losing 4 straight and in Sydney. More NBA scouts than you could poke a stick at there too.

@ACT-Crusader I've watched a replay. Loe and Gliddon also made important contributions. Hopefully this win gives them some momentum for the Bullets game.

We are best when we give max effort on D, play with great motion on offence, and we take advantage of the depth of our bench

Not an easy thing to do when we have two guys out that both average 28+ minutes a night and will give you 30+ points combined.
Will played 37 minutes last night (8 more than his average), Jarrel played 32 (5 more than his average). Given how much we played through them plus they both had tough defensive assignments - it was iron man stuff from both of them.

last weekend of the NBL regular season and a few things are up for grabs
Due to the vagaries of the draw, some teams have 2 games, some teams have 1, some teams have none.
Sydney can't come anywhere except first, and are odds on to make the GF, and in all reality should win it. But they aren't invincible.
The Taipans are currently 2nd, but that looks fucked now that we lost to friggen Adelaide. We're banged up as hell, and our paddling pool depth means the top 7 guys are logging huge minutes. Pinder suddenly looks unlikely to play again this season. To finish 2nd we need to win in Perth tomorrow and hope the Breakers manage to lose to both the Hawks and the Bullets
The Breakers are 3rd, but will come 2nd baring an enormous meltdown.
Tassie are 4th, and need to win v the Hawks to stay there.
Perth are 5th, and have 2 games, v Taipans at home, and the Kings, at home (WTF?). If Tassie lose and they win both they will jump to 4th
SEM have no games left and are currently 6th.
Melbourne have one game left, and would need to beat Adelaide by 42 points to bump SEM outThe other 3 are playing for, well, i can't even call it pride. contracts?
Sydney and the Breakers will get a rest next weekend
The Taipans will host i assume the JJs in teh major play in, leaving Perth to host SEM in the minor.
