Highlanders 2023

i love this, two guys that know what a good team culture is
-
I can't believe Dermody hired Whiffin to coach the backs and not this guy...
Otago's best head coach in a very long time, NZ U20 winning assistant in 2017, & was an integral part of Highlanders brain's trust in 2018 - their only good season under Mauger.
-
Have seen the Blues article on Tito's signing, it appears that Brown's with Georgia's coaching staff now
-
@Stargazer a huge fan when hes fit
-
@Stargazer id missed he was injured
-
Weren't we meant to have been getting a Welsh 10? Or is that off the table? I see Owen Williams is now at Ospreys.
-
@SouthernMann Fell through unfortunately. Must be because of Mitch Hunt being back in time or something..
-
@HLD2023Champions When the Landers had PPP, Nareki and Hunt firing on all cylinders, they made it to the final.

Whatever the question is, Hunt is not the answer.
He's the type of player that most teams would love in their squad in case of emergencies but he's not a playmaker to build a campaign around.
You dont even make the semi finals without a decent 10 and if the rest of your squad doesnt have the class of others, that makes it extra difficult. -
Anyone know the top bronco times?

Looking good for Fakatava it seems, hope he keeps progressing. Shame about Holland dislocting kneecap though.

That article also lists the Highlanders NDC players:
- Hooker Jack Taylor
- No 8 Semisi Taeiloa Tupou
- No 10/No 15 Finn Hurley
- No 10 Ajay Faleafaga
- Loose forward Will Stodart
Really interested to see how these guys develop. I think they are investing a fair bit in Jack Taylor. Henry Bell will be back next year. Our current hooking stocks are fairly limited and short term. So Taylor needs to have long-term potential. Hurley has the potential to be a Hunt, Robbie Robinson or at best a Damian McKenzie. Could be any one of those three. Tupou looked like a million bucks in high school footy, but it tends to be a lottery how those guys develop. Faleafaga is a big hope for mine. Could be a quality long-term 10. Stodart is interesting, might be stuck behind Haig with Otago at six.
