    @Daffy-Jaffy

    Anyone who could make JPR Williams look stupid on defence had to be very, very special.

    One of my favourite ABs of all time. Hard as nails and when he hit you, you went down hard. From 1:35.

    Classic example of why many think Bruce Robertson was the best ever.

    JPR was playing 14

    He mullered Andy Irvine

    Think we've confused videos. In '73 (the video Daffy Jaffy posted), David Duckham was 14, JPR 15.

    Had the pleasure of meeting Duckham about 10 years ago. Said Batty was a "real hard bastard"

    @ACT-Crusader too many non-Cantabs

    I was ready to go Ben Blair over Chr… but that would’ve been too easy 😉

    Batty the angry midget - loved to run in from his wing to pick a fight with the opposition forwards -

    Height 1.65 m (5 ft 5 in)
    Weight 65 kg (143 lb)

    I never saw my dad play but he would have played like Batty I reckon, same stature. My dads joke was he never made the All Blacks because they couldn't have two little wingers so Bee Gee got his spot.

    Batty was a giant compared to Ponty Reid; winning halfback against the Boks in 56 and AB captain against Oz.

    Wringing wet he was (can only remember the old stats) 5'2" and less than 10 stone so that's about 60kgs and not much more than a metre and a half!

    Back on the rugby, I think Horan or Nonu at 12 is worth a thread of its own, and there were other contenders.

    NB for that 'prestigious' forum ruck.co.uk
    Nonu doesn't even feature at 12

    SBW gets an honourable mention at 12. He doesn't even rate a mention for GOAT AB12. Stopped reading that tosh

    Confession: I knew when people read the SBW mention at 12 that some would see red (or at least yellow) ...
