I got rid of the dish a couple of years ago in favour of it as it's a bit cheaper.
It's adequate but pretty limited from a streaming POV. E.G. I woke up late for an ABs match one morning and wanted to play it from the start, but that just wasn't an option, it just chucked me straight into midway through the game. That's pretty basic shit to not have in place.
You also can't record any games and watch them at your leisure, and it's not obvious how to play games or shows that were in the past - if you go into the TV guide then I think you can play them from there, but only back a certain amount of time? So that's a piece of functionality you lose altogether really and have to watch things when they are scheduled in the TV guide which takes you back to the early 90s.
It's also really jolty on my Sony 55" TV when I play it via the TV app or chromecast it. I've found it's a bit smoother if I play it via the PS4 which is weird. On my other smaller TVs around the house it is really smooth though.
So, adequate, but as is with most things Sky, leaves a lot to be desired.
These are things that work ok in the Voda TV system which is (I hope) the same way the new Sky IPTV box will work. You can scroll through the schedules into the past and have the option to play a previous show without need to record. You also get the option to 'play from start' if you come in part way through.
BTW I dont know if the new Sky thing will have cloud recording like the Voda Box but that works well. We use it a fair bit for overnight events like cycling

Anybody using this? Would like some opinions on it as a replacement to the dish offering.
dont know if it anything like the the Foxtel go over in aus, i had that before Stan got the rugby, found it so much easier than having to arrange any kind of dish install etc

@No-Quarter the lack of 'play from start' is spectactularly annoying.
I find the app crashes regularly on my (new) Neo QLED as well. Frustrating - but when I complained, I got generic responses that I just gave up.
That said, I still prefer it to the dish, starting programmes within 24 hours is really nice

Cool, these are the sorts of things I wanted to know. Thanks!
I'm going to trial it in case Sky isn't installed tomorrow (weather is preventing the dish installation at the new place).
Will be using an Apple TV (was going to use the xBox but don't see an app on that platform.)

Can you seriously not play from the start? That seems like pretty basic functionality you'd expect from a sports streamer.

I came up with some new swear words when it plonked me straight to 30 minutes into the first half without warning. That sort of shit is the most "Sky" thing ever, which is why I'd be perfectly happy for them to just die as a company and be (hopefully) replaced by someone halfway competent.

Not in the last 7 years.
Although I would say that when using Stan it took me a game to figure out where the watch from the start was.

I thought you could go back 2 hours on the Sky Sports Now app?? True that at the start it plonks you right up to date.
... and if you are casting, the going back 2 hours is nonexistent.
True. Didn't realise that.
Tried it through the PS5 last night and the same issue. You can only watch live.
Also note I can't cast it from my Mac. Not sure what's up there but what a shit streaming service.

Experience was not good. Stuttered several times and it skipped 20 seconds.
5 sec pauses a few times during the game? That was on the regular sky coverage.
Yeah ok, will let them off then. Was very annoying

I jumped in now, just ditched sky as I'm only watching rugby
Rugbypass, when it was streaming for non rugby Nations, basically had thrle entire year of all decent rugby on demand. It was such a good deal, VPN via Mongolia and you had so much rugby
