@hydro11 Remember, this is also the MP 3rd string team. They have an awfully long list of unavailable players.
3rd string is a bit far isn't it? Blues are missing RTS and Beaudy as well.
Unavailable for selection: Xavier Cowley-Tuioti, Jack Lam, Josh Kaifa, Isi Tu’ungafasi, Lotu Inisi, Don Lolo, D’Angelo Leuila, Niko Jones, Levi Aumua, Danny Toala, Henry Taefu, Taukiaha’amea Koloamtangi, Lolagi Visinia, Manu Paea, Jonathan Taumateine, Samuel Slade, Neria Foma’i, Tima Fainga’anuku, Ray Niuia
Added today: Curry and Tuitavuki.
I honestly don't think any of those players would make a substantial difference.
Geez I think Toala, Aumua and Visinia would of all added a lot. But it's what it is.

Was impressed with Christie today. Very solid, quick to the ruck and fast distribution. Not too showy, just really effective.

Think both teams can take a lot out of that game. The Blues are building an incredible amount of depth and MP are going to be a strong side in a season or 2. They just keep on going despite their tough schedule.
Leon MacDonald will have some tough choices to make for next weeks game.

Incredible that MP's next game is on Friday, and then again on Tuesday, followed by a game on Saturday. Really tough schedule.
What is this, a World Cup? And MP is a tier 3 team…

Based on what I’ve seen this season Christie is the number 2 Halfback in nz and perofeta the best 10. Mounga has carried on his underwhelming form from the end of last season and Barrett has barely been sighted.
MP need a tad more patience on attack and tighten up their defence.

I agree. Christie looked good in Black last year. Not spectacular but pretty safe and seemed to make the step-up to International level pretty easily.
Then again, the Curse of the Meldrew's might kick in and he'll be utter shite from now on...

Really happy with this past week of Blues games. Some true depth in our squad now.
We look organised, defend well have real strength in set piece and maul time. Still work to do at the ruck, but not a surprise as we’ve hardly played the same back row combination at all.
Have that handy knack of winning now and not playing all that well. We seem to building into the season, and as out top players come back into the team could be great timing.

Which other teams play MP twice. Really getting an advantage in the comp.
Well maybe not in the case of the Hurricanes who play them again on April 12.

@kirwan Who do we play at 12 and 6 next week?
Robinson, we need to get him back in form. Can always drag him.
I’ve liked Heem so far, but fourth choice(!) Evans has had a good start too.
Evans is probably no. 2 there now and is the future, but I'm sure they'll give RTS opportunities if he is fit.

Nock tends to always play better when he starts vs off the bench.
He really doesn't play well off of the bench
Time to move on
Christie & Funaki should be the halfbacks
If there's three halfbacks in the squad, Nock's current form has him ranked fourth.

@antipodean someone mentioned his box kicks last week, how many went straight up last night?

I've not seen so many fucked up box kicks in ages (from just about every halfback playing).
I suspect that it's partly the use of the short kick this year and many aren't getting it right. The 30m box kick used to be the ideal and AS could land it bang on. Contesting from the back has got so much better over the years that it's getting to be risky to try the 30 unless you see them out of position.
i don't think I had seen penalties for 'inside the 10' for years but it is happening each week now. I don't think players are used to that law at all
