Injury ward update after The Blues victory over Highlanders in Dunedin.

Beauden has a headknock and will be tested again this evening

Josh Goodhue has a headknock and arm in sling after being lifted by a highlanders player in 2nd half. Will be tested again this evening

How the fuck was that not a card?

I'm just past that. Amazed they didn't have a look.

Impressed with Nock this week. Good game, so so much better than his last outing

A Smith has been the best halfback in the country (and arguably the world) for a long long time. Critical to our game, and makes such a difference to the Highlanders. Without him, so many games would be blowouts. What a player

@machpants ,Dalton Papalii from what I have been told was really annoyed as both Hoskins was hit high , nothing done and BB had an elbow driven into his head , nothing done and Goodhue was lifted dangerously nothing done ..incredibly Fetuli Paea was involved in all 3 ..

@steven-harris that's the frustrating thing. One week it's a card - one week it's play on. Just annoying.

Sotutu's having a good game, some really good passing. Creates space if he's doing it rather than then 9. Runs well, and a hell of a fend. Great run, great try. Solid defence.

Smashed in the head earlier, but just 'play on' from the refs. Funny old world.

@steven-harris That's really shocking mate. Last night it was Morgan's spear tackle, and today it is three head shots.

@nzzp I hear you , this is what frustrates the hell out of me as long time follower of the game ,it’s so inconsistent from week to week .
It’s like Death by a thousand cards ..!

also, how the hell did Coltman drop his bind, tackle the ball carrier at a maul on the 5 going forward and not get a card? Astonishing given what they dish cards out for (see the Romano card in the last Highlanders Blues game a fortnight ago)

@nzzp thought that at the time there’s that inconsistency again .
Get the impression if Pickerall had been the official he would have looked at everything.

that's a good win, away from home against a desperate Highlanders team. Given the disruption, losing Goodhue and BB (two of our best), and wihtout our best 9, I'm happy. Will take it.

Strong defence at the end, we've squeaked a couple now and dropped one.

    Clarke looks really sharp.
Sullivan has a lovely boot, and so much time.
Sotutu played really well, great skills and athleticism on display.
Defence around the park was really strong at times, and disorganised at times.

All in all, great result for teh Blues, and plenty of improvement left in them. Lots to work on!

Commentators a bit unusual. They just fawn over some players; RTS in Game 1, now Frizzell.

You have to be now concerned for Barrett and Goodhues future’s with more heads knocks.

@nzzp He seems a Blues fanboy! WTF? His constant praise for the Blues and his constant criticism of the Clan was an embarrassment.

@old-samurai-jack agree to disagree on that one.

I think it was him two weeks ago pumping the 'unfairness' line after knock on advantage played out with metres forward and clean possession followed by a shit 'landers kick.

    Darry is pretty shit.

Don't worry, if this Blues' Cantab doesn't work out they've got Tucker and Romano they can go to.

Was it just my bias or was RI pretty quiet?

Result as expected, don’t think any of our boys had a real shocker…just not cohesive enough, and when your not world beaters in skill level wise you need to play like like a single unit…which we dont

Gilbert had another strong game. I hope they don't try to move him back to the wing when CGB comes back.

@steven-harris hoping Goodhues was more his shoulder than anything, he seemed to show an issue there straight away, and head check as a precaution or did he actually fail his HIA?

But given his history we know he is really only one knock away from retirement, and to have it from an illegal act...

Nock is such a frustrating player, has all the tricks in his bag, but not often do they all manage to get out, and then there is his consistecy, i still think his pass is up there with Smith, the way he threads some passes through traffic to hit his man.

@taniwharugby Yeah Nock is a real enigma. He looked really good in the first half but he gets caught sleeping at the back of the ruck when we need him to clear which he has done his whole career. You're right, he does have all the tools to be a quality player, but he lacks that physicality where he looks like he doesn't wanna get hurt at times.

@dice I thought the same too. Didn't he bomb a try against the Hurricanes in the corner last year, oram I imagining that?
