NPC 2022

I know we have moved on from the NPC and talking about Super sides, but I want to say I really enjoyed the NPC this year.
I enjoyed that it seemed most teams had the ability to beat any other on their day and for me, it seemed there were more youngsters announcing themselves this year. It looks like there is some serious talent coming through.
It may be a Mickey Mouse competition as some called it, but it got me watching consistently for the first time in god knows how long.

@Crazy-Horse agree mate. I couldn’t watch all 80 minutes of every game but watched a condensed version of each game and liked what I saw from many ‘no name’ players that seemed to take their chance.
I also liked the variation in styles. Super rugby teams have a lot of sameness and maybe I’m a bit jaded from the last couple of years of those teams playing each other a thousand times - the NPC did show that there is still some imagination and innovation in NZ rugby.
Only shame was that there wasn’t any finals to top off a great season…

@Canes4life And more importantly, wonder if Leo can be cajoled into coaching Kaponga in Div2/3 in the Naki comp? He did take a couple of traings this season!

@taniwharugby I was just reading that article myself. Interesting that there is a push for a salary cap, below what a lot of PUs currently spend on players.
-
@taniwharugby Ughh.
Although it is understood some affected provinces had already looked at the prospect of raiding other provinces to fill potential playing gaps that could come in a World Cup year.
-
@Stargazer wonder if that is the team that rhymes with Spasman

Greg Pleasants-Tate’s professional rugby career is over.
