IIRC Taranaki announced their NPC squad really early last year too.
A few weeks ago Perofeta was quoted as saying he hadn't decided on his future beyond this year (stay in NZ or head overseas). If he makes the ABs then his decision has been made for him.

Although not offically confirmed, this article says that Perofeta has re-signed for Taranaki (and the Blues for 2023).
