I was thinking that about the wickets, but quite ok to see Ind and Oz off on non roads. We got the pakis and a chance to make it at Chandigar - no idea about that surface, but in Kane we trust

Yeah - can't recall if we were seeded to make the semifinals - but, regardless I'm sure most people's expectations were that India and Oz would make it. Odds-on now that at least one of those teams will miss out. Guaranteed if we beat either Pakistan or Bangladesh.
-

That Santner and Sodhi are reasonable...

Too right Don!

Their margins for error (four/six balls) are so small. For sure both teams would have planned to target them (especially a raw leggie) and simply haven't been able to. Santner showed when Marsh pummeled his half volley that he only needs to be a foot off and they'll whack it, yet for basically 2 games he wasn't a foot off.

Similarly as a Kohli, Maxwell, Marsh etal facing up to Ish must be thinking, "Ok here goes this'll be good Short I'll go way back, flighted I'll go down the track, or maybe I'll just stand and put it over cover", Sodhi gave them nothing. Nothing.

His pace through the air and his short of a length (combined with decent spin surface) was exemplary. In the end Maxwell basically panicked and tried to play left handed - that's not "well that's how he plays and when it comes off we love it so we have to put up with the failures", that's just "Waaaaa I'm supposed to smash this guy and I can't!"

Should have sent out gloves to him with the instruction "rock back and play him for one and two through the covers with a straight bat you fucken dolt. Then you, Gap tooth and NTA's favourite will hit the big shots at the end"

Just brilliant skill execution from two inexperienced bowlers against the best teams in the world in the biggest tourney of their lives.

Can't ask for much more than that!
-

I loved the camera shot of Milne's catch of Marsh with Smith and the rest of the Aust team in the background. Contrasting emotions. Excellent fielding in the deep to back up the bowlers. Well done BCs.

Sodhi is proving to be an inspired selection when you consider he wasn't even certain of making the squad until the performance in Hamilton vs Aust.

A huge game tomorrow when India host Pakistan. If India lose they're probably out.
-

Yeah, think I'll watch Ind pak. Actually an Indian win helps us, but a Paki win will be delightfull. win win for us :)

Back in the day this was the Everest of match fixing, in fact a guy (ed Hawkins) wrote a whole book based on their 2011 WC game. Today it may be different - hope so
-

They call the BCs pool the "Pool of Death" ( fuck I hate that cliché ) but so is the other one. I mean SA on their day can quite easily beat the Windies who hammered England, would not be surprised in the slightest if that happened.

Shit this tourney is cool, fucken hating the time zones though, I slept through half the Aussie innings, no chance for this old fluffybunny for a 3am start.
-

Based on reading that book I can't see a Pakistani win, tho it will be close to make it seem legitimate.

Possibly the Indian govt and the Pakistani mafia involved too -

It's either that, coincidence or a lack of cricketing intelligence. How many times in limited overs cricket are the Aussies going to let us in a game by slogging out? Even in the World Cup final, Warner got out to a shot he should not have played.
-

Yeah the only disrespect Australia are guilty of is disrespecting the game and what's worked for 150 years

They've had a diet of good paced pitches, and methods where if you hit the ball hard enough to go for 4 or 6 you'll generally score 160 plus BBL and home series.

It wasn't until it was too late that Smith and co thought along the lines of, we should be nudging it around on this packed, rolled mud square, as evidenced by his after match comments. As it was they nearly pinched the game with 2 overs to go. It required good percentage bat on ball contact, rather than brute force and lavish swinging

Play them at Wankhede where Eng and SA played and they'll canter to a victory

No disrespect, just out thought by Kane the Brain :)
-
