We beat the Dogs
I've booked GF tickets and put the mortgage on McCluggage to win the brownlow

On another note, the Sky guide has finally updated and now I can see they're showing the season opener on Wednesday, yay.
have to say, i woke up this morning, and was actually excited for the game tonight, two teams who i do not care about, but both play good footy.
Unsure about opening the season with a GF rematch, seems like that is a waste of a "blockbuster". But I'll take anything over being forced to watch Richmond pound Carlton

I fell asleep somewhere around quarter time (this is why they say to limit alcohol with lorazepam) but we looked dominant and ended up running out 26 point winners. We probably could have had them at quarter time but were 3.4 to 0.1 to start. I was excited and nervous. Truth be told, the topsy turvy nature of the Dees' last few seasons did force one to wonder if 2022 would be a disappointment after winning a flag, but last night settled my nerves. The game, some of the pre - game rhetoric and a short 360 segment I watched all gives me a strong belief that we can go back to back. In fact, this could even be the pointy end of an AFL dynasty.

They have the idea half right. They should do what the NFL does and have the opener as the defending champs against a promising up-and-comer.
While you'd be tempted to throw Sydney in with Buddy closing in on 1000, you probably want it to be an all-Melbourne thing. So I'd have Melbourne vs Essendon.
It's just a more fun narrative than two good teams where the result doesn't really tell you that much.
That said it was a great game last night.

@barbarian It's all very weird from Bevo to be honest. Morris isn't even one of the bigger flogs involved in covering the AFL (there are far, far more deserving targets for this).
Feelin a bit of pressure?

Fun game last night. Melbourne off to a flyer, Dogs fight back to hit the front, then Melbourne just own the game from then on.
Petracca didn't spend offseason rest on his laurels did he? Fucking beast of a player, great skill combined with just being stronger than everyone he plays on.
Dogs showed that just bombing it to the forward line won't hurt Melbourne all that often because May is huge, moves well, and is mean to go with it.
I know it's only round 1, but that was not a bad statement from the Demons. -

See this in the post game presser? One of the most bizarre rants I've seen from Luke Beveridge. Blew up at Tom Morris at Fox for breaking team news (Lachie Hunter dropped). Went full retard.
When a guy goes off like this I think someone needs to sit him down and remind him it's just a game. Just a fucking game. He makes out like the journo is seling state secrets. And although that wasn't the forum in which to have a constructive debate, the journo at least deserved a brief right of reply. So if anyone finds that the journo has published somethine, please post it.

@shark sounds like he may have overreacted a little....but it is more than a game for these guys, its their job...fans need to be reminded its just a game but these guys livelihood depends on the results
slippery slope
This wasn't Morris posting picks of a stolen game plan
This was Morris reporting a guy wasn't going to play. I find it super hard to believe that the early reporting of that was what caused the Dogs to get beat pretty handily.
And to call it "gutter journalism" like he was reporting a story that said player was out because he's been on a meth bender, rather than, you know, form issues, is really weird.
Never have a problem with a coach going in to bat for his players, but this is not the hill to die on.

@mariner4life Knowing if a player was going to be selected to play is very important when it comes to placing early bets on when the odds are often better than they are late in the piece. He was doing all those punters a good service.
