AFL 2022

@mariner4life not the first time Mark has tried to justify the camp publicly either.
Sure if it was a regular camp that was a little tougher then normal and Eddie struggled (I think he’s always had issues with the old skin fold tests), sure Eddie might have to “get over it”. But far too much has come from this to be some beat up or just a couple of ex players / players coming off contract with axes to grind.

How good was the Dees v Pies last night? Huge crowd and a good tight game. Great win for Collingwood

And Dees leading for most of the game. The belief in Pie land is sky high.

Geelong win. Collingwood win. Dees lose. Sydney win. Brisbane win. Freo win. All definitely playing finals.
Carlton lose, and suddenly optimism looks very shaky. They've got Melbourne and Collingwood. But the Saints have it no easier with Brisbane and Sydney. The Dogs aren't done yet, but they would need big wins over GWS and Hawthorn.
Freo with the easiest draw to make the top 4.
Essendon losing to GWS the only lol of the weekend really.
Having two historically terrible teams is making a funny looking ladder.
-
I know it was “only” north…but the swan idea are fucking coming!
That fucking goal from buddy !
-
looool
you'll never convince me of two things
Vic bias doesn't exist
The AFL isn't above manufacturing results to get their desired outcomeIf Cripps wasn't Carlton's best player, and if Carlton weren't (somehow) one of the biggest clubs out there. And if said big club wasn't one the verge of playing a final for the fist time in memory. Then no fucking way does that ban get overturned.
-
@ACT-Crusader she's a tough old gig aye? Fucking sucks when your club misses sitters to win a game.
I'll take the win though. Fuck knows what the lions have at half time but it's not good. Their third quarters are taipans-esque
-
@mariner4life season over. Our goal kicking accuracy has been poor for 3 seasons.
Arghhhh.
Bulldogs scrape home in what was a tough watch.
Blues will be absolutely kicking themselves to let that one drop. Now it’s on the line for them next week against the Pies in what could be the biggest home and away crowd in footy history. Pies to stay in top 4 and have double chance and blues playing to stay in the 8. At the G, will be epic.
-
and so, with a round to go, we still have 10 alive, though the Saints would need to flog the absolute fuck out of Sydney to make it.
Sydney finally end Collingwood's streak, which threw them from 2nd to 5th because of their ordinary percentage.
Carlton do a Carlton and throw away a win over Melbourne, and now they have to play Collingwood on Sunday and win in front of probably 400,000 baying bogans.
The Bulldogs probably only need to beat Hawthorn and have Carlton lose to play finals.
Richmond are in, will finish 7th, and suddenly finishing 6th looks very treacherous.Lions play Melbourne on Friday night, winner to the top 4, loser probably to 5th
Geelong have minor premiership sewn up, and will probably run out the U16s to play WC in the final round
The order of 2nd to 6th will all depend on results this weekend which is pretty cool for the competition.
-
didn't Essington have quite the day yesterday? Mid-morning they had sacked their coach.
By mid-afternoon he was unsacked (okay it was all media hearsay really, but you look around it, with the extraordinary board meeting etc it was weird)
Now there is very much the chat it's all about getting Clarkson. The chat was yesterday they thought it was on, so were making moves on Rutten, then it was off, so Rutten was back. Either way, it does look like Rutten is gone after another horrible season.
-
@mariner4life and if he (Clarkson) goes to North then Essendon are in even more dire straits. The club is a mess and there is an arrogance there that Clarko may want to avoid like the plague.

i think it's almost inevitable that they will not have a coach next week. And they will be forced to find ANOTHER up and comer, because surely no A-Grader wants to go near the place.
-
Essendon are going though a similar thing Richmond went through but a decade or two behind them ,
After a couple of decades of being a power house ( richmond 60s and 70s , bombers 80s and 90s ) there came a feeling of arrogance and entitlement ,
And when it all finished , they both found themselves always looking for the quick fix to get back to the top, and making panic decisions
As a Richmond supporter ive been watching them for a while now thinking you guys have taken our mantle
-
@kiwiinmelb the amount of good draft picks they have traded away, not admitting a true rebuild was necessary, the lack of healing from drugs saga or thinking the club and members were over it, the constant Hird talk, merry go round of assistant and head coaches - all coming home to roost.
Good job I say. Couldn’t stand them as a kid.
-
@ACT-Crusader yeah we were a bit similar without the drug scandals , but sacking coaches who didn’t get instant results every few years , that was the Richmond ruthless way , almost like they were scared of their own feral supporter base
It wasn’t until they got a calm ceo , president and footy manager in gale Peggy and Balme who allowed Hardwick the time to recruit his own list they started to see long term results .
It’s interesting how often the rot starts from the top not the coach , but the coachs wears the blame
-
Clarko to the Kangaroos.
-
-
@mariner4life here’s my smokey, Buddy to finish his career at North.
-
Essendon never in with a show. Kangas and GWS only real possibles and given his former links to Kangas it was only going to be there.
Bombers way too late to the party and they either knew it and have used it as the out to get rid of their current coach or they are naive.
