Suns quietly putting together a good season despite the injuries. Putting away the teams they should, competing with everybody else.

just more evidence that this Lions group will never win a flag

We are one of those teams that look good in the H&A season, scoring pretty goals against shit teams, playing well on small decks. Then completely clueless in big games against good sides.

The team are the playing embodiment of their coach, just a bunch of nice guys. We aren't hard enough to win finals. We aren't mean enough to win finals. And frankly we aren't good enough to win finals.

Fages will not win a flag as a coach. But then the culture he has brought to the place can not be denied. We are a destination club, and the players we have want to stay. Would a change to a harder, more tactical coach blow that up? Tough decision at Board level.

Good win that. Love it when Carlton lose, the online salt is delicious

Lions smack the Dogs but it felt very hollow after last week.

and the weird season keeps going

    Essendon beat Sydney
North are historically awful, this week only scoring 32 points.
    Carlton refuse to arrive.

The bottom 4 have a combined record of 11-49.
which leads to 3 wins covering 1-9.

This season is so open still. I think Melbourne deserve to be heavy favourites, but genuinely i could see anyone in the top 8 knocking them over in a one-off game.

    Some big games next weekend

Dees v Cats - 1 v 2. Even if Dees lose they will probably remain on top just by % alone

Swans v Dogs - 8 v 10. Only a game the difference and Dogs need to be able to remain in touch.

Suns v Tigers - 11 v 7. Probably now or never for the Suns. They do have the running game to trouble the Tigers.

Saints v Dockers - 9 v 4. A bit of a rivalry with these two teams dating back to the whole Ross Lyon thing. Saints will want to get some momentum after a good win, Dockers scraped by a plucky Port yesterday and will want to remain in touch with top 4.

Lions v Bombers - 3 v 16. Could be a banana skin game for the Lions if Essendon continue recent form. Brissy gave the Dogs a nice touch up but I do like how the Bombers have been able to score lately.

Dusty to the Swans rumour seems to have legs.

If they can keep both him and Buddy fit in September they will be a problem

i am seeing someone talk about it every day now. And Caroline Wilson refuses to dismiss it, and she is not one to throw hot takes out willy nilly

Especially about Richmond related matters given her links to the club.

There’s been a bit of talk about him getting out of Melbourne since his Dad’s passing and wanting a change/reset.

@ACT-Crusader Surely the Buddy experience would be something that other stars would notice. Out of the limelight, no media doorstops, lives in sunny Bondi, playing finals every year and has arguably extended his career by 2-3 years.

@ACT-Crusader I'd add Carlton vs West Coast into that mix too.

A few weeks ago you'd give it to Carlton by 30, but now I'm not so sure. West Coast have found a bit of form and if Carlton lose this one then the vultures will start to circle.

@barbarian banana skin game for the Blues. Eagles also have a couple coming back in that would bolster their ranks.

actual correct use of the word

A month ago Carlton would have penned in the 4 points

but now? Eagles kicked 93 points in Melbourne last week. 107 the week before to beat Essendon. They are starting to score again and Carlton will have to be on to win.

Big win by the Cats but not unsurprising when it’s down there at Kardinia Park. The hardest place to play in the AFL not just because of Geelong’s record (only lost 13 times in the last 15 years), but because the shape of the ground is different. For whatever reason it just seem to affect the way opposition teams play down there.

The win and margin is good enough to put the Cats on top of the ladder.
