While we've been giving Timmy grief in the lower order, also noting...
I think they confused his height in feet with his position.

Would it kill us to have an extra test against both our foes so far this year ?
Don't think your World Ranking could handle getting done at home TBH. Losing at home to 5th and 9th isn't healthy.
Just you wait until trans Ta$man rugby gets going again!
Yeah we'll get pooched, but let's stay on topic eh? @MN5 hates it when rugby treads on the glorious World Champion team that is the BCs.
Especially when they can't win a series at home
@Machpants has taken up the mantle in @Virgils absence by the looks of things.
But yeah, staying on topic the ride was fun while it lasted. Christ on a bike KW can’t comeback fast enough can he ? The most important Black Cap since Paddles, easily.

This two tests show you can't play test cricket without a spinner.
I think the first test proved you can, ooms. Emphatically
The bowlers didn't lose the game for us. The batters did

Yeah weird post. We still dished out one of the biggest hidings I can remember without a spinner in sight ( which makes today’s result all the more annoying )

Stead is a pretty uninspiring coach but this is Kane's team so when he's not playing we lose our way a bit, especially when the going gets tough.

This is the first time since 2012/13 that NZ had not been able to win even one test series in their home season.
I'm not at all confident that we're going to progress any further under Stead, he's too conservative to rock the boat and make any courageous choices, it's been far too much of the same 'old school' approach under him and we're clearly stagnating now and are in need of a different approach.

any chance you've got a 2nd record? this one appears to be broken

I'm not a fan either. But no Kane, no Taylor, no BJW. Eventually this was going to affect us

@mn5 it didn’t work for the Proteas.
I think the main problem was two awful batting performances personally.
4 innings of dross from too many middle and upper batsmen. And no standout big score to spare us the damage

Stead lost my support for not playing Wags in India last time.. no coming back from that.. lol
To be fair I dont think this summer was solely his fault, retirements and injuries played a big part. The lack of Kane also had an impact on the composure of the team for sure as well. However he should take responsibility for the prep that went into that first test of the summer. None of the players looked like they were ready for that and some senior leaders even behaved like pork chops. So I dont think he gets a free pass either

Unsure how I feel about this series, and indeed this home test summer, aside from disappointed. We should never have drawan a home series vs the Bangles, and then we had SA right where we wanted them and a first ever series win within our grasp and then coughed it up.
No doubt Kane makes a massive difference. If he plays against SA and bats to his average twice it's a much closer game in the second test. Losing Rosco probably didn't make much of a difference, such was his waning test form. We didn't miss Boult in the first test and such was the trouncing I don't think anyone thought we needed him for the second test but upon reflection that was a golden opportunity missed vs SA and also really hurts our WTC chances. Maybe there was a case to be made for selecting our strongest team.
