f we can survive to remain three down at stumps, I give us an outside chance of surviving tomorrow, but that is a big whopping "if"
holy shit sunshine and rainbows that's some level of optimism there!
yeah in a peverse justice sort of way I still have hope, given the fern has mercilessly mocked moon head junior and CDG on many occassions it would be fitting for most of us to be served humble pie.
although if we have to rely on Southee though to bat out one over though, we are dead already
I guess we are going to keep waiting for that maiden test series victory over SA
I would be surprised if we get through tomorrow from what I saw, ultimately we still have Conway at the crease and while there you would imagine a draw still possible. We will need Blundell to change his name to Watling though
-
Was crucial for our openers to put a good partnership together to set up a decent platform for the rest of the top order... now Conway & Blundell have to try & bat all the way through the morning session at least, then rely on other partnerships too for us to sneak out of this one with a draw.
Day 4 - NZ require 332 runs off 91 overs (min)
NZ : 94/4 (42)

Any rain due?
Hope it rains ...if we could bat our way out of it though it would be a real Houdini act.

Rugby season officially started after the first test so who cares about this one aye…
Did we bowl badly? Not really. We just lacked a bit of venom. But this was always going to be a batters test because of the pitch and conditions. We didn’t score enough in the first innings and the Proteas second innings was superb.
Get on the Crusaders 😉

Yeah, a lot depends on how well you bat in the 1st innings in any test.
Nah, go the Canes

That 100% depends on @nzzp s boy Conway.
Pretty much that simple. The rest are guys to bad for a good time but not a long time
Conway doesn't often miss out twice. We are going to need serious contributions from Blundell and CdG at least
I have more faith in the former to get set and grind it out.
He's still living off that landmark innings on the aussie tour. Hasn't been as good since
What really sucks is the dread as a fan that we’re essentially potentially half a session away from a crushing defeat if things turn to shit early.
I haven’t had this feeling about the Black Caps in years. Not nice
Yes you have. Game one of the Bangles series.....
With the amount of NY boozing I was doing I just assumed that never happened….
But yeah, as someone on here mentioned the inconsistency is staggering. We COULD NOT have fucked them up more in the first test….and look what’s happening now ???
Goes to show what an achievement the test championship was. We won't be able to maintain that level of consistency this cycle
Absolutely. Losing Rossco and KW and some other players showing more indifferent form than they should will probably ensure that.
Without those two our batting lineup isn’t a hell of a lot better than SA’s ( given Conway just hasn’t played enough to judge just yet )
Conway may have only played 6 or 7 tests, but has already scored 3 hundreds, one of them a double hundred, so of course you can judge how good he is, the bloke has class written all over him, again he's showing excellent composure in this test.

England in England isn't the West Indies on debut.
Plus, he was an absolute run machine at domestic level. Someone must have the comparable records of the two to compare

He's nothing like a Mathew Sinclair type of player - Conway has far more composure, he's shown that in tests & the white ball stuff... Williamson & him would have to be the first two batsmen selected in any format of the game.

It would be a superb effort by Conway & Blundell if they played a major part in getting us through to a draw... the percentage is very low that we will get there, but still a chance.
