SA won the toss and having a bat???
I wonder if they are using the same pitch? If so I guess SA think it should have flattened out a bit from the first test. I generally lean towards batting first in tests but if the pitch is doing plenty you can lose the test on the first morning.
Yeah its a bold call, particularly given there last two batting efforts.
Different pitch btw

Thats a bloody good start from SA with the ball moving arround and some pretty good bowling, last test starting to look like the Bangladesh abberation

... or you can take a massive step forwards.
Some good bowling for no reward from the kiwis. Going to be in the fight now, can't wait. Love test cricket.

Hopefully NZ Cricket have taken the only sensible option
And created a pitch where both teams score 500 in the first innings and we win the series

may as well. Our chances in the WTC are borked anyway- relying on multiple teams shitting the bed to move forward

A spin option may have been useful as time goes by in this test.
who do you drop though? Rachindra at 7? Drop Mitchell?
Or CDG probably don’t need his wee meds.
The wkt is flat and slower so will take turn latter.
Too much of the same coming at SA. -
Too many 'Nam flashbacks from Bay Oval of the opposition innocuously building up the scorecard. Markram has somehow scored more than his recent average (something like 9 in his last ten Test innings).
Pitch better play like this outfield in the second innings:
-
Henry should have retired at the end of the last test.
He'll be chasing the dragon for the rest of his career
-
love wags

Two set players gooone Henry strikes at the other end
