Hamilton BHS at Rotorua BHS this Saturday for the Moascar Cup. RBHS are undefeated so should be favourites at home.
Super 8 looks like it will be quite close this year, although I expect Hamilton to take out again.

Yes, the competition looks to be more even than in the past but I think Rotorua might be the strongest team based on results so far. Normally a mate and I would head to Rotovegas to watch the game but I am keen to see St Paul's play Feilding HS. Both are undefeated in the CNI, and it's much closer to home.
Hamilton BHS is almost a completely new team so if they can win in Rotorua that would be huge. Hopefully, Payton Spencer's injury isn't too serious either.

While it is great for Super 8 fans to be able to watch all games on the Whakaata Māori YouTube channel, I assume that means that Sky TV won't be showing any of the games. There is a big difference between watching via one camera and multiple cameras with a superior video and audio quality.

I went along to watch St Paul's hosting Feilding HS. Both were unbeaten in the CNI going into this clash. I was more interested to see FHS, as there is a bit of hype around them given who they have beaten this season. They are certainly a physical team, led by the Bason brothers at 2 and 8. Their 2nd 5 was also impressive, while both locks carry strongly. FHS weren't on the right side of the ref at times and had a player yellow-carded near FT for backchat, their second time being penalised for this.
This was an entertaining game where St Paul's never led but hung in there, and would be disappointed they didn't take all of their opportunities. They did score near FT and a great sideline conversion (one of 4 between both kickers) levelled the game up. The FT score was 26-26. FHS certainly bring their supporters with them.

In the other CNI game played in Hamilton yesterday St John's thrashed St Peter's 57-0. St Peter's aren't as strong as in previous years but the scoreline is a big surprise. St John's still have to travel to Feilding for their postponed game, and host St Paul's.

I'll post the full results list later, but - as expected - Hamilton Boys' have taken the Moascar Cup off Rotorua Boys, in a 28 - 19 win.
A friend of mine went to the game and he was giving me a HT and FT update. I was away all day so need to watch the replay. RBHS have held the Moascar Cup for a while. Hamilton BHS hosts Napier BHS this Sat, so they will be happy to get a challenge.

*** Sarcastic post alert ***
I watched some highlights (Kings v Grammar) last night. Huge crowds of enthusiastic kids/youths watching a game of rugby with great crowd participation. (OK, element of captured audience ...)
Yet. The game featured none of the youth-oriented marketing we have to suffer through at a game of professional rugby.
No piped music.
The kits were plain, traditional and recognizably different from each other. . No fluoro, squiggles, fades. It seems buy-in and attendance could be based on the respect and enthusiasm for the institution and its traditions and the integrity of the competition?
Yet, at a higher level we still have to suffer through a game-day experience of what a 40 year old marketing executive 30 years ago thought kids/teens/20-somethings from 30 years ago were into.
Perhaps would be good if someone from College Sport NZ ended up in a 'marketing' position at Super Rugby level.
