Black Caps v Bangladesh 2022

As my avatar may suggest, Boulty is one of my favourite Black Caps. 300 test wickets at 27 is freaking epic, well played sir.

I don't think it presumptuous to begin asking the question about enforcing the follow on?
I think we do. Won't be as easy in the second innings. If weather packs up on Wednesday we'd look like plonkers if we wasted time batting.
Agree entirely.

Yeah we are far enough ahead that them setting a 4th innings total to chase is extremely unlikely

The last test clearly just a flush the dunny moment.
Bangles now batting to save the match, before tea on day 2.
I know they are a test side, but FFS they are Bangladesh. It's not like rugby or football, where 80 minutes goes just like that and sometimes you have lost a game you shouldn't. We had 5 days (and 4 nights of potential team meetings) to turn our mental state and effort level around. And we couldn't do it

Brilliant from Boult

Absolutely, bringing up his 300 and going on to take 5 is fantastic stuff.

How good was Lathams declaration?, perfectly timed to dismiss Bangladesh by end of the day. Now to work on coin tossing

You have to enforce it. Tough that Taylor doesn't get another chance to bat but it is what it is.

I see what you did there (rewind a few hours)
😎
Two days of cricket - 500+ runs and 10 wickets. Not bad at all.

Yep, I can't imagine a better time/more needed time to enforce the follow on. With rain forecast later in the Match, and the bowlers finishing up at the end of a day too, it has to be enforced.
Fresh legs in the morning. Incentive of bowling for the match with a massive run chase in front of the opposition. Perfect scenario really. No pressure…

Interesting looking at this list of highest NZ scores - the number of people who appear multiple times.
Little Kane 6
BMac 6
Rossco 3
Latham 4
Marty 4
Flem 5A few others who did it twice and a number who managed once.
I'd be happy enough with the guys listed above as our top 6 ever (or at least since 1970). Ability to go big is a good indicator.

My earliest memory of cricket was the first win v England at the Basin in 1978.
It wasn't until 1991 that I saw a NZ batsman make a score of over 200.
NZ went from 1972 to 1991, damn nearly 20 years without a 200+ score. (And not one in the whole decade of the 80s when we were pretty good. )
For that reason I think scoring 200 is an amazing, superhuman feat.
We've gone from 5 double tons pre '91 to 30 in the years since.
So I think those stats are amazing.

I would have kept Ajaz in the squad ahead of Matt Henry on sheer principle after that 10 wicket haul, while acknowledging it would make him no more likely to play on a green seamer...
Henry is a waste of a selection. He’ll only play if one of the other seamers is injured. A really ordinary record reminiscent of some of our seamers in the 90s too.
Astonishes me they keep on selecting him at test level - he doesn't have variation in his bowling, no changes of pace, can't swing the ball etc, he's too easy to read with his predictable bowling... in English conditions where they get a ton of movement off the wicket he's very effective, just need to land the in good areas at off stump or just outside & the ball does all the work.
Great that we bowled them out for a very low score, reckon we took the foot off their throat though for a while with our bowling, if we'd kept the pressure we probably would've rolled them for well under 100.
Was hoping we'd knock them over for a low score, keep our bowlers fresh, be ideal if we can get a couple of very early wickets in the first session.
