Isn't it up to the national sporting organisation to nominate the athlete?
I think so? It would be strange for them to nominate Adesanya & Bareman in 2019 but not for this 2 year period. That’s was why I thought the omissions were interesting.
I hope that crucials theory of political retribution is incorrect.
My guess it’s because of another disagreement (this one isn’t political)
Slight misrepresentation there.
His spiel directly accused the police and “bureaucrats “ of treating him differently because he’s black.
Add that to his record of controversial speaking and it wouldn’t surprise me if he is deemed to be a “risk”.Maybe he's not deemed as kind enough?
I actually have little issue in not being able to win it for the above reasons. But to not get nominated is simply not good enough.
There is no way somebody who came 11th in the premier league in scoring statistics is the NZ sportsman of the year nominee ahead of an actual world champion in a growing sport unless there is outside political involvement.

I’ll second that. Round it out with the Black Caps, Stead, Kane Williamson and Lisa Carrington. Sorted.

I never know how they actually choose winners of this thing, but the Black Caps winning the WTC is a feat that is unlikely to be replicated. We were punching so far above our weight to win that thing it's not even funny. We'll probably win the T20 or ODI WC's at some point as there's so much luck involved there, but not the tests, that's where your depth of talent gets tested to the maximum.

Expect Nico and Zoi to feature next year as these awards are for the sporting year from 1 December 2019 to 30 November 2021.
Olympic gold medallists usually win in an Olympic year so the likes of Bond, Carrington and the eights will be a good pick. The team will be the hardest to decide.
Stamenic or Fairweather for Emerging Talent.
