To be fair to England, they aren’t spoilt for choice with batting options, and Hameed at least looks like he has a better technique to survive than Burns. Even though another duck is the result…
Interesting logic for a guy who scored two very quick ducks in a row.
Burns has the sort of technique (mainly backlift) that, if you saw a kid in an opposition team bat like that, you’d just tell your kids to bowl at middle stump and soon he’ll miss a straight one…
…..but he did occupy the crease and get some runs. Hameed looked like a tail ender from ball one with his concrete feet.
Pretty silly argument in one sense, whoever is there is basically cannon fodder.

Bloody Hell Cummins is one decent bowler.
Looks a bit nice and friendly though. That should be a work on going forward.
If he was a Kiwi you guys would talk cricket in winter.
I know, he’d be the bowling version of KW. he’s a lovely bloke too.

Oz probably got things wrong at the toss - this pitch hasn't done much at all - but, maybe they think it will do even less over the next few days - which is likely.
Maybe Cummins couldn't be arsed thinking about declarations and follow-ons.
It's not going to matter, but it looks like a win toss and bat pitch.
England possibly should have opened with Root and Malan.
You are in deep shit vs Oz if you don't have decent openers. Just prior to lunch Root and Malan had almost retrieved things from disaster, but they're well up the Khyber now, without a paddle.
