@mariner4life I was just going to say that it's astounding that India managed to beat them at home - and in fact at the Gabba.
yeah, some poor resource use and some good batting. Every attack gets beat at some point. That was huge by India.

Stokes gets Davey but has overstepped.
Both dickwads so who cares
Agree about Davey, but why don't you like Stokes? Apart from fighting a while ago Stokes has been ok hasn't he?
Too overrated
Not his fault. He would have been handy for us in India though.
Or collapsed with the rest of the batsmen and bowled innocuously. I suspect this would be the case.
Possibly. I still don't get the hate for him though. Apart from being a ranga and arguably overrated, he is fairly inoffensive isn't he? Or have I missed his shenanigans?
Being a ranga is enough for @NTA and being overrated is enough for me. Seriously, Wisden have a sickening article on him every five minutes like he’s the second coming. Truth is he looks pretty good next to some pretty shithouse teammates but he’s currently the 15th best batsman and the 37th best bowler in the world.
He has an impressive highlight and is therefore basically the Ardie Savea of international cricket
Yeah I guess they’re both sportsmen who’s aura exceeds what they actually accomplish and they get named in World XV/XIs when they don’t deserve to be there.
Hmmm. Clutch player Stokes.
Cant think of a more clutch performance in cricket ever than Stokes at Headingley. Only other real clutch one comes to mind is lara 150 chasing 4th innings in 1999 v peak Aussies.
dude it's MN5, the king of the box score hot take
Stokes has played key roles in big results on big stages. He's a fine player and would make nearly every team in teh world
So would Ardie Savea. Definitely best number 8 in the world right now.

Their depth came to the fore and our selections were questionable at points, given the workload.

tickling one down the leg side must be the most frustrating way to get out

The pitch and an older ball are helping Root and Malan tame the Aussie attack.
Long way back to parity still, but good to see some fightback!
Very good batting conditions. Root and Malan didn't play their best shots in the first innings.
England have been fined heavily for a poor over rate - Aussies were at 14ish and ponds at 11. Terrible
-
Yeah - excellent fightback by England, but so much more needed.
As Warnie was pointing out - they're effectively minus-58 for 2. Somehow they probably need to be plus-150/4 to be close to parity.
Funny, funny game - Root largely untroubled for the last half hour and then suddenly last ball of the day he fishes at Green outside off stump and could easily have had a calamity.
So many little points that can do your head in.

@nta Never in doubt. A thumping victory that makes me think of Steve Waugh, Johnny Howard's trcksuit, Thorpedo and big Johnny Eales in his prime.
What a disaster for England. Leach hit out of the series. Stokes hurt. Robinson hurt. Couldn't happen to a better group of blokes. Why fly to Adelaide when you could just take a right turn and go all the way home, save everyone the trouble of watching you limp to sad defeat after sad defeat.
The only reason to go on is to give Jimmy Anderson a fitting send-off from test cricket - limping off with a hamstring injury as Australia pass 500 for the second time in Adelaide.
This post is aging well ...

Bullshit. plum. fuck off DRS
Starc robbed, Burns reviewed on hope.
Was funny huh?
Burns thinks it's going down leg. Who said he wouldn't get out the same way as the first innings. He tried hard to.

that first ball swung, though. Moved the most of the day I understand.

They’ll still get pumped. Guaranteed.
